Amy: Sheryl are you excited about today?
Sheryl: Yes I am I can’t wait.
Amy: well you should be excited because you know if we were to pay for this services that it’s total cost is easily free for hundred dollars.
Sheryl: Wow.
Male: Full time mom, grandma and real estate broker Sheryl Both never takes the time to get out and pamper herself. That’s why a home spa party seems the perfect fit for her lifestyle.
Sheryl: I’ve been to a spa once, that’s my only time. I don’t take a little time for myself.
Male : Amy Smernoff, spa consultant with the Adam Brother salon and spa in Richfield Connecticut recommends taking time out for your self both in and out of the spa.
Amy: I think people really love spa treatments because they’re very pampering and luxurious and there are some wonderful things that you can do at home to take care of your skin, your body, and to also just force yourself to take that time for yourself to relax.
Male: A home spa party is the ideal opportunity to enjoy a day of pampering among friends with all the comforts of home at fraction of the cost.
Amy: Let’s start with the avocados.
Sheryl: Okay sure.
Amy: We’re going to be using this for a dry skin mask.
Sheryl: Okay.
Amy: And now we need some lemons they’re very astringent and they’re good for oily skin. Bananas we’ll going to use this for a dry skin hydrating mask. That’s terrific. And let’s see if we have apples over here.
Sheryl: we knew the types of services we wanted to do today so it’s very important for us to have a list.
Amy: Here’s the cornmeal.
Sheryl: what we’re going to do with cornmeal?
Amy: cornmeal is going to be the body spoliator it’s fantastic.
Sheryl: I can take things right out of my refrigerator or cabinet and do it—
Amy: now the real fun begins. It’s going to be exciting.
Sheryl: Yes.
Male: Back at Sheryl’s house, she greets her guests who don’t know exactly what they’re in for. Chip and old buddy of Sheryl’s is here to spend some quality time with her best friend. Ellen a friend of the family who is here to indulge a serious pampering and Wendy Sheryl’s sister, after all what is family for.
Sheryl: I want to introduce you to Amy. Amy is going to help us out with this party today.
Wendy: Hi Amy, how are you?
Amy: Great, so glad you’re here.
Sheryl:
Amy: here’s a bathrobe and some slippers. And I’d love for you to get change upstairs take off all of your jewelry and come and meet us in the kitchen.
Wendy: Okay great, thank you.\
Amy: We have some water on the table and just dip your wash cloth in there because the first thing we’re going to start with is the cornmeal exfoliate and has to be in a wet skin.
We used the yellow cornmeal and we used buttermilk. The cornmeal has enough of a grain to it to effectively exfoliate. The buttermilk also acts as a milk asset on the skin which aids in the exfoliation.
Amy: Lean over a little bit and you’re just going to rub it on. Now you feel granule nature. Now Ellen especially for you sensitive skin I want to give a technique. Whenever you apply anything that has a grain to it or oil in the skin a good rule is if you see your skin move like this it’s too hard.
Ellen: I’m so glad to be here with my good buddies. Because if I wasn’t here with somebody, I didn’t know.
Amy: we are going to make a mask now that is tired, dull, sensitive skin. The tired, dull and sensitive mask was made from one egg yolk, a few drops of olive oil and a good squirt of honey.
Wendy: How much honey was supposed to put in.
Amy: just say that it’s sort of a little tacky looking you don’t want it to be too thin, I would put a little bit more in that.
Okay perfect. And also if you have a really severe dehydration in the skin you want to add more honey.
Wendy: the mask is a lot fun first of all it’s fun to do it with friend because we’d laugh at each other and have a good time with it.
Sheryl: Oh it feels so great, I feel like I want to fill out my neck, get all over my hands and—can I do that?
Amy: I’m so glad you ask that question because yes you absolutely can. Everything you do for your face you really –
Wendy: the wonderful part about this party was that we were able to really digest as to what she was telling us because there was only 2 or 3 ingredients used and it was easy to do.
Amy: We’re now going to make our last treatment for the day and this is called a tea time soak. It’s again a simple, simple can be you can use either muslin or cheesecloth.
The tea bags are really a lot of fun because you make them in ten seconds and they are very therapeutic.
Wendy: I’m going to volunteer to take the bath.
Ellen: Okay let’s toast to our—every month for treating our selves freely.
Sheryl: thanks for coming.
Wendy: thanks it was a lot of fun.
