Over the years, I have had some really neat discoveries while I was doing some remodeling work. Now, what happen?
While I would be tearing a part of a wall, doing some demolition work and all of a sudden, we would find something. Check out some of the neat things that I have found and kept over the years.
This is a cigarette case. It has got a date of August 3, 1909 and checked this out, no surgeon general warning, really a neat item. I am sure a collector’s item so I keep it in very good shape.
Here is an old beautiful brewery bottle. I will bet you this thing is about a hundred years old and I have got another that I have found in another job that is the Huck Brewery here in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is really a gorgeous beer bottle and they are really thick glass and I had a lot of go and finding them.
Another great thing we find from time to time, just old newspapers. So, what I want you to do on your upcoming new home job or maybe it is a remodeling job, I want you to make you a future carpenter happy. How are you going to do it?
You are going to make your own time capsule assorts. Here are some of the things that you can use to do with it. I prefer to use the daily newspaper. It is as simple as that. If you can get one of the national newspapers, that would be fun and you want to include the entire paper and believe me, it is going to be really funny to read this thing, eighty or a hundred years from now.
Make sure you save the Sunday Inquirer and I will tell you why. The Sunday Inquirer has got a lot of neat things in it. Imagine, how people are going to laugh years from now when they see they could have bought in the year 2002 a soap for 599 bucks, probably fifty years from now, it is going to be $5000. So, make sure you put that in here.
Finally, just add some items. Go ahead and put some of your bottles in, whatever soft drink bottles you may find. They are colorful. Make sure you rinse them out before you dot it and here is one of our modern beer bottles and other neat things. Maybe you have got an old electronic toy of your kids that does not work any more.
Throw that on the wall. I like to use a zip lock bag to protect some of the things that might get damage, you know, down the road. Simply go ahead and put these trays on the wall and you know what, you probably make some builder or a remodeler very happy in the future.
