Hello and welcome to this tutorial brought you by AdobeNicNacs and this one we’re going to have a look at something that many of you may not have heard of and that is animating in Photoshop. Now, animating in Photoshop came around I think in the CS3 and it's available in CS3 and CS4 standard, it doesn’t have to be extended. So, if you’ve got one of these versions, you can of course do it.
So, if you’ve animated in after effects before, the key framing system is very similar to that. However, if you’ve used flash before or the flash CS3 or lower, it is quite different from Mac. So we’re going to go over in how to do it and what we will do, let's show you what we’re going to be creating is very simple. You're not going to be doing complex long animations in this and only going to be about 30 seconds tops.
Now, if you’re not watching this on HD or in HD on YouTube because this will be in HD. You might take a look and down to process and it maybe jumpy even in HD, it might be a little bit jumpy but I can guarantee you it's very smooth from my point of view, it's 29.97 frames per second. So it is smooth, trust me it's not jumpy. Right then, let's get started I guess.
So, I’ve got an identical document up over without any animation. So it's just going to our animation palette. So what I’ve got here is a few elements which we’re going to use to create. So, if you hadn’t receive then, on the window, go to animation, toward the animation palette and first of all what we’re going to do is we’re going to animate the title, the moon there or it may be a company name, just made it up. So, if we find the layer, it's called mover. You just click on the arrow and set a key form the position here then using your move tool, hold down shift to constrain a horizontal straight line sort of row and drag off to the side and you might need to do multiple clicks, there we go, soft. Then we’re going to go through about maybe one and a half seconds and then we’re just going to drag it on and hold control, press A and then press this button here which is aligned to horizontal center then hold control and proceed to deselect.
So now, we have an animation that goes like this and this sets your key for about to one second to like a little bit shorter, it's just there. Now, what we’re going to do is we’re going to animate the opacity of our moon. So go to your moon layer, click the drop down and we see we have opacity. And we’re going to stop animating from about one and a half seconds. I find it—I will set a key frame here and which going to turn the opacity down to zero. So I’m going to take a half a second to animate them, scroll to two seconds and actually, on this one, I changed it to two key frames there, okay.
If you make a mask into a key frame, just right-click and choose delete key frames. I’m just going to delete both of these. We need to make sure we get this on one and a half seconds. There we go. I’ll make sure you turn it down right down to zero so a key frame for opacity scroll forward, it's going to take half a second. Just get it right on there and then we’ll change it al the way up to a hundred so that’s going to animate them nicely and then all we need to do now is our black out at the end which would fade, let’s save—whatever this is gonna be, choose the drop down for a black out and this will going to wait about three seconds before we start and we’ll key frame the opacity, the blackout and it’s only zero. It’s then going to take a second actually to animate on and we’ll just turn this all up to a hundred and now, we’ll have to play it for you once to render out or render out quite jumpy and if it turns out jumpy on YouTube would be even jumpier. And then we can watch it less jumpy or in real time after that. So, as you can see, it's just running right, you see this blue bar, it’s rendering out. As soon as that’s finished, the blue bar has got past our final bit, we can stop it and take back to the beginning and play. And there we go—that’s it. It’s real easy. You can then go on render that out, this is a tutorial on how to render it out but you should be out to go to export and render video. Save it out, let’s say to an MOV or something similar and there you go, you have a very simple animation that you could bring to Flash, into After Effects, you can put it in Dreamweaver, on your website etc.
So you can see, it's very, very simple to do and very quick and you can use all your Photoshop elements that you are very similar and used to—no, not very similar to, you are very used to. So you can use all those and yeah, that’s basically it. So, I hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial.
