All right, here we are at my studio, just about to do a business portrait. So, I’m just going to set up my lights and everything. I’m just going back from a commercial shoot so I can I setup my lights here and backdrops. I’m going to inform that she’s wearing like a dark suit with a red shirt so I’m actually going to go with my silver light background. I think it’s the candy apple or something like that.
And I’m pretty well going to do a three light setup. I’m going to have one light with a small soft box, my soft box is here on a blue maroon for a hair light. I’m going to do another light on the background with a hand cone grid. And I’m going to use a soft box for main light and I’m going to use my reflector here for the fill light. So, I’ll start setting up and then I will show you.
All right there we have it. So, I’ve got my main light and a background light. And I’m going to use that light up there for a hair light which I’m just going to turn on right now. All right, here we go. And I’m probably looking at about F8 for this guy, it’s F8 from the background and depending on her hair color, you’ll have to see that I’ll end up range anywhere from 5.6 to F8½. So, once we get it all set up there, we’ll be ready to go. We’ll bring in a reflector to my custom white balance and we’ll be all set.
All right, so there we go, main light, background light, hair light up there, couple of reflectors just to light up—we’ll light up the front.
There we go, I like reflectors. I want to use fill light, you know, I got to use reflector, it’s nice and cheap and easy and they get nice catch lights in the eyes and very easy either to work with. Chin up a little bit more and turn your face towards the light a little bit more, no, no, don’t keep on moving your back and just turn your face, good and chin up a little bit and tilt that way just a bit, there just like that, good.
