How to Create an External Hard Drive
Hi, this is Scott with Gadget Experts again. I had upgraded my PS3 and I told you I was going to do another video. And show you what to do with your old hard drive from your PS3. So, here we are, I had purchase a hard disk enclosure, USB 2.0 hard disk drive enclosure from eBay. Like I said, I love eBay and I shop a lot on eBay. So, anyway, this is it in the package. This is for serial 80A drive. I’m going to take everything out of the package here. Here’s your enclosure, very small, yet effective. It works just like the one I used in my video, but that one wasn’t mine. That was somebody else’s. I’m going to open it up here, if I can. It’s a little hard. So, anyway, you open it up and took apart. It opens up. There are no screws and stuffs like a lot of other ones. This was really cheap on eBay. But, you know, for the price that you pay, it works effectively. So the other hidden things are underneath the box. See, if you open those little flaps. Here’s your connector cord from the hard drive enclosure to your PC. There’s also a disc in here for the driver, but this is only if you have a Windows 98 operating system. Otherwise, if you have XP, Vista, or any other, it’ll work. It’s fine. It’s plug-and-play-like thing. And it also comes with this nice little pleather, not leather, but pleather case. I’m going to put that back in here for right now. Okay. In here, I had put it back in the static free bag, so it didn’t get staticy. Because, you know how electronics are. After I took it out in my PS3, I put it in the bag that I took the other hard drive out of. So, anyway, what we’re going to do is pull it out of the bag. Have a little trouble there. And here, it just, the label stays up. Okay. And all you do is slide it. I don’t know if you can get a real good view of this, and it just slides and then you push till it goes into position. Just like that. And it’s in there. See it snaps right down into position. That’s all it takes. And then you put the lid back on. And this, because it’s just a snap up together case, that’s all there is to this. And now you take the cord out of there, out of the plastic. And plug it in, and then plug it in to your computer and you can begin using it. Now, I will do another video on showing you how to create a partition. Because it’s not like a flash drive, you plug it in. It gives it a drive letter and stuff. It’s not like that. You can format this or you have to format this and assign like a letter. You can assign a letter drive to it, which is smart. And you can even name the, the letter drive to whatever you’d like. I will include another video on how to do that. But for right now, I’m done with this video. I showed you how easy it was to take that old hard drive and make an external hard drive out of it for your computer or whatever. So, anyway this is Scott, with Gadget Experts. Please comment and rate, thank you.
