This granny square is when you do know—when you don’t want to what was like a traditional granny square. So you just want solid lines across except for when you’re doing the turns. So let’s start a crochet loop and you wrap your material around twice, pulling the second over the first and then pushing it with your finger and that will create your first hook.
So we want to create the center. We’ll start on in the granny squares on the circles and then moving our way out so let’s count is one—so we’re going to do it forward together, so one, two, three and four. So what now were going to do is we’re going to now, it’s called the slip stitch and you’re going to stick your needle in the beginning stitch, your very first one cropping image is real through. Okay and I’m positioning my finger and my thumb into the center of it before it comes all the way around and then I’m to continue to pull through.
And so by putting my finger and my thumb there, there is the center of the square and by putting it there, I know my finger, where it is. So now, what we’re going to is we’re going to chain up to five, so one, two, three, four and five. Noticing my finger did not leave the center of the hole. So what we’re going to do is we’re going to double crochet. This is a double crochet granny square so you’re going to wrap your material around and you’re going to remove your thumb and your going to push it right into the center up of that circle. And what we’re going to do, there should be two left on or sorry three lines left on your hook just like so. So you’re going to pull through two only and then two going into the center and if you don’t know where it is, that one first one defined where your center was. So going it through and what we want to do is we want to put three of these double crochets in a row and etc.
Okay, so these three represent one side of your crochet. So now, what we’re going to do is we’re going to—chain two because we’re going to turn a core, so one and two. What we’re going to do now is we’re going to double crochet that into the center of the hole and we’re going to create—this is the first time that we create it so we’re now going to create the second side by doing three double crochets in a row again. Now, I’ve got my straggler just like so with what I’m doing is that when I’m sticking my needle in, I’m just holding that straggler in a position so it locks itself into the center of the circle so you’ll never see where you started. And since we have three in a row, we’re going to now—chain two, one and two.
Okay, and you know you kind of start and you see the square has taken formation and I’m going to put the straggler, holding into position and we’re going to put three of these double crochets in a roll again. So that was one, two, three. Okay, so now, we’ve got the one side created, the second and the third and now we’re just going to finish off with the four sides. So we’re going to chain two, one and two, sticking, wrapping your material around, sticking into the center of the hole and just see how this one is coming off. That is considered one of the right, it's one of the signs that we’re of this side. It's already been created when we did the last line. So we’re only going to do two of these and double crochets in a row on the last rotation around and what we’re going to do is called the slipstitch.
So if you count off two, one and two, you’re going to stick your needle into the section, right in the second one up playing it through and through. Okay, now you officially have your granny square. So were at 4 minutes, 17 seconds so let's keep going.
So what we’re going to do is chain up five again, one, two, three, four and five. So every time you’re making the circle bigger, you chain up five and you’re going to go immediately into the first quarter for three in a row. I apologize, the first quarter for two in a row because we’ve got two. So now, what we’re going to do is that we’re using now the top of the stitches for your crochet. So what we’re going to do is just stick your needle into the first stitch just like so. I’m not sure why that’s so blurry but—so we’ll wrap your material around and stick it into the first stitch, put it through two and two. We’re going to go the next stitch and the next stitch.
So now, you’ve run out the stitches on order to grab so what you need to do is put two additional stitches right into the center, right into the actual hole itself and just right into the hole, right into the quarter piece. So every time you get to a quarter section, you need to put two extra around the edge. So now, we’re going to put two extra. Again, we’ve just turned the corner, two extra. See how you’ve got that turn going on so now, we’re going to go into the top of the stitch. So you’ve got three stitches here so you at least got to get three stitches. I’m just going to gather up the material around. Your going to catch at least three stitches right.
Listen, now your other stitches and your coming to a quarter so what your going to do is I got to put two in a row just going right directly, right into the corner. Now, we’re going to turn the corner so we’re going to chain to one and two going into the corner again for two. So the corners always have two backstroke, going into the top of the stitch and line below for everyone. So no matter what size you get, you just got to make sure that you’re leaving two extras on both sides of the line.
So now, you’re other stitches, so you’re just going to go into the corner piece for two and the corner for two. So you're making a turn, s one and two, going into the quarter piece again for two in a row, one, two. So now, you’re going to start going into the top of your stitches and there will rapport below it. And so this is your last stitch, and that rotation and remember how we’ve talked about coming around in an extra core. So this counts as one, so what we need to do is put an extra one in there and what we’re going to do now is counting up to, one, two, you’ve got slip stitch in the position playing through and through. Okay, so you see, what’s happening here is that there is always be holes in the corners but this will remain solid in between. So what we’re going to do is, I’ve got to do another round of it in the next video.
Okay, so in order to make a round like we always will if you—no matter how big you’d go, you can make a whole blanket this way and just oil these, it's up to you. You’ve got to chain five, one, two, three four and five. just going in and wrapping the material around, your going to go into the quarter piece for two double crochets in a row. So you’ve got your tuner rows and now you want to start in incorporate in your double stitching right into the stitches of the ones below. So you’re just going to stick your needle in there. Do you see where those stitches are?
So you can do a granny square blanket as long your squares and are the exact same size of each other and you should not have a problem and it's so easy to tell, like you just keep following the pattern along. So now, you’re out of stitches i9n order to continue along, so you’re going to put two into the very corner. So now, you’re going to make a turn s, one and two. Okay, going into the corner again for two in a row, so now, what you’re going to do is you’re going to incorporate your stitch in the next stitches into the top of the last line. So right into the—the stitches.
So let's say, you run out of stitches, you know that you’ve done the whole line, right. Okay, now you’re out of stitches so you’re going to add an extra two to that corner. So we want it to turn so let's chain to one and two going into the corner for two more. So now, what we’re going to do is continuing along –your going to see where how are you going on this now, the top of the stitch. Now, you just keep going along that line to run out the stitches and then you know you’re at the end of that line before get to the end.
Okay, your out of lines, you’re out of stitches so you’re going to add two to the corner. So now, we’re going to do our turns so you’re going to chain two, one and two, going into the corner again for two in a row. And now we’re going to find the top of the last some stitches and just work your way across and this will be the last. So that when your coming up to that end where you have started, you’ve got to realize that that is the last one in. so if your coming to the corner, you’ll always put two. It’ll be the last one in your line. Okay, so this is the last stitch. So then, you know how we add two to the end corner. We’re going to do it. This is counted as one of the two. That this counts one of the two so you just going to stick in right into the corner piece here., wrapping here around and bring it to. So now, you’ve got the two coming out of the corner like you should. So now, we’re just going to count on two, put your needle in, wrap your string and pull it through and there you go. So there is your regular granny squared using double crochet and you can go as large as you want or as small as you want. You can make a whole blanket, whatever you want to do with this and if you make it all the same size, you can sell them together and make granny square blankets. So that is your next idea.
