One of the other more important principles to keep in mind with Qigong is that the face, the mouth, the tongue, the eyes, the chin, all of these things are very important into practice. So, given all the factors that we have talked about in addition, you want to be able to place to tongue in the upper palate if possible and rest it gently against the upper palate if you can or behind the upper front teeth, and you want have a relaxed jaw muscle, not too much tension about the lips closed.
The other thing that you want to do is to have eyes open and either looking down at a slight angle or looking ahead but very slightly dropped. There is no tension in the eyes. The eyes should be soft and relaxed. It is helpful to train yourself to see the whole field of vision over time so you are not just looking at the single point of vision directly in front of you but you begin to learn how to see with the whole eye, not just the central point of the eye.
A good way to learn how to do that is begin to pay attention to the outer periphery of the entire circle of vision and give just as much emphasis, more emphasis even in the beginning to that. And, that will allow you come into way seeing which is whole eye seeing as I call it.
That way, you are seeing everything with equal weight and the eye should be soft and relaxed. The other factor is keep the chin slightly tucked, at the time that the body whole point is lifted, and the small of the back, back here is relaxed and opened. There is no tension in between the shoulder blades. It is open, relaxed and that is also allows this lifting to occur while maintaining the shoulders relaxed, and that also allows, the shoulders in the sternum to kind of collapse a little bit and the sternum to drop slightly. That will help the pelvis actually to come into right alignment and the spine to come into right alignment.
So, all those factors are interconnected but if the chin is lifted, there is problem so you need to chuck the chin a little bit. Bring it back in slightly and again have the ears directly over the shoulders. All that will help you posture tremendously. The other thing is intriguing, we are having fun, refining your energy is a joyful experience. So, it is good to have just a little touch of a smile at the corners of your mouth. Not an artificial smile, you should actually feel kind of happy that you are doing such a wonderful thing for yourself and for other beings because all those you come in contact if you are full of fresh joyful energy, are going to benefit from your good spirits, and your good nature.
So, you are doing this for yourself and for all beings really, you are dedicating this practice both to yourself and to all beings, to their happiness as well, maybe even a little more than yourself. So just lift the corners your mouth a little bit. I was told once that it is both your muscles to smile a little bit when you are sad. So just relax the face, let a little smile energy come into end of the face and let the corners of the mouth lift a little bit and feel that smiling energy come in and fill the whole head, fill the consciousness. Bring your smiling energy out into the neck, out into the scalp. Out into the face, let it move all the way out into the shoulders and down the arms. It will down under the chest, the back, down into the core of the body into all the organs. Feel it sinking down into the abdomen the middle and the lower back, and into the lower abdominal organs, how good they feel and that smiling energy comes into them. Feel it sinking down into the pelvis and the genitals, down into the whole pelvic area on into the legs. Fell the smiling energy move on down through the lower legs and into the feet then ankles.
Your whole body has the feeling of joy and happiness. For just a minute, let us just stand and feel that smiling energy, just kind of naturally flowing down and felling the whole body and top to bottom and from the bottom, all the way back up for just a moment and try to emphasize that wide vision.
Yes, it is very good. I would say the smiling energy actu
