Mike Wiegenstein: Welcome back. We are in studio with Dr. Roy Jolly, nationally recognized leader in the treatment of TMJ and sleep disorders. Right, Dr. Jolly I interviewed a lot of people at dental office and every one of them had a different story but i have just timed the one more clipping, I want to watch this girl, I want to mention to everybody that you have not seen these clips before and I were getting a first time reaction from you. So, let’s watch this girl and see what you can say about this.
Grace Grimpie: On January 22, 2201, I was in very bad car accident, had a lot of head and six months after that I started experiencing a lot of head, neck, shoulder pain I put back in my neck is what we have heard. Oh, I have seen at least 15 doctors, all different types of doctors for pain management, acupuncture, neuro surgeons, orthopedic doctors, chiropractors, regular doctors anybody and everybody that I can talk to and they all gave me the same answer. It is not the whole that they could do for me, I was told that later on because I was tight in my neck and my shoulders that it was forceable I would need to have a discectomy in my neck from leaving that weight.
That’s when I made an appointment and actually almost do come because you know if they are you know what good is going to I don’t know I just almost dint come to my -- but I finally made the appointment and I came in Dr. Jolly confirmed that I did have a TMJ issue that needed to be corrected and so it did not take long before I was in -- and I can remember two weeks after my treatment has started. Oh! My gosh, my shoulders fell and I can move and my neck is in all you know and I mean that I was awesome. I never associate it the neck and the shoulder pain with hinge. I just was tied in my jaw aching.
That’s why I came to Dr. Jolly. It was you know unbelievable to me that he could actually take care of my neck and my shoulder pain while taking care of my mouth and my pain in my jaw to take completely out of pain when you lived in it for almost six years now is nothing but a miracle. I am on no pain medication now which is awesome. Oh I love Dr. Jolly. I really think that it is a blessing from god that I was safe and I know there are a lot of people who don’t think that the TMJ treatment can help them like it did me.
I had a lot of people asking me when I tell them about it and they see that I am not on pain killers and that I am actually able to do good, they asked me that all the time is that mean worth, I like yes I know its hard to believe but true it does work, its awesome.
Roy. R. Jolly: Now Mike know why I do for her that.
Mike Wiegenstein: Well, I want to tell you that girl alone had seen 15 doctors, neurologists, should have been seen other dentists to treat TMJ, what is it that really makes you any difference?
Roy. R. Jolly: Mike, I have over 800 hours of continuous education in the last three years studying TMJ and sleep apnea. I have equipment that no one else in -- very few dentists do. That’s what -- but that’s what separates me from this typical dentist.
Mike Wiegenstein: Alright, I want to talk to you briefly about, and may -- back discuss it further about sleep apnea, sleeping disorders. What are some of the signs or symptoms of sleep apnea or sleep disorders?
Roy. R. Jolly: Mike, 19 million Americans have sleep apnea and don’t know that the most absorbable symptom is snoring but also waking up in the morning not feeling refresh, remember its not how many hours you sleep, its about depth you sleep. So, we have to get -- but feeling tired all day, run down, you are looking the mirror and you look old, there is bags under your eyes and you think I have got aches and pain everywhere, obviously with the movies and here you are stop like you feel sleepy when you come home at the end of the day you have got to take a nap, those are some of the most commons, just a tired worn out feeling all the time. Morning headache is another symptom.
Mike Wiegenstein: Its my understanding, if I go to a medical doctor which most people would go to for a sleeping disorder and I am sent to a hospital for sleep study, I go and spend night in the hospital, they wire up and they determine if I have any kind of problem at all. This is what I end up with the -- or machine that constantly blows air down my throat, I mean it looks very uncomfortable, it can’t be.
Roy. R. Jolly: Can you imagine trying to sleep in that rolling --
Mike Wiegenstein: You imagine trying to roll over and give you wife a kiss, can it either your husband --
Roy. R. Jolly: How safety is that?
Mike Wiegenstein: Exactly, tell me about what dentistry is doing.
Roy. R. Jolly: Dentistry had just come out with some new oral appliances that advance -- when you get someone sleepy or the first you do you move the jaw over to open the air way, at night the -- muscles relax and the tongue falls back if you move the jaw forward it moves the tongue forward which opens the air way and this is just a sample device that keeps the jaw forward and it allows for
Mike Wiegenstein: What percentage of sleep disorder sleep apnea patients can have success because I know that studies show that after one year?
Roy. R. Jolly: 10%.
Mike Wiegenstein: 10% of people are wearing this which means the other 90% are getting no benefit. What percentage of people can benefit can benefit from a simple --
Roy. R. Jolly: 90%. 90% will get success rate. Where as I can’t remember I have never had or not be able to wear this, never had a patient that couldn’t wear an oral appliance. It’s just -- this or that you tell me.
Mike Wiegenstein: Now I want to thank you for coming on this show, we are out of time. Have to go. I know that you have a lot of information in your website, I know we have covered a lot of topics today, I am kind of put on the spot of there, first of all if everything one thing from the show remember one thing about sleep apnea or TMJ, what would you wanted to be?
Roy. R. Jolly: It’s the -- you may have headaches, neck pain but it could be your TMJ and you need to go to a dentist who has a proper equipment and proper education to treat it.
Mike Wiegenstein: Okay, with that said, you have information on your website. If you left questions concern anything at all if they call your office will you talk to them?
Roy. R. Jolly: Absolutely.
Mike Wiegenstein: Will you personally.
Roy. R. Jolly: Personally will talk to them.
Mike Wiegenstein: Dr. Jolly I want to thank you for coming on this show. You have been watching Medical News Network. For more information on this subject or any other please visit our website at medicalnewsnetwork.info. Until next time I wish you good health.
