Sarah: Hey guys welcome to the Calorie Minute brought to you by Diet.com. I am Sarah your host and I am with Body Transformation Expert Stephen Cabral, today but he is not going to be showing me a full workout. I have some questions for him. So for you I have some questions.
Now a lot of times, I hear mixed opinions about whether or not you should workout if you are hung over?
Stephen Cabral: Right, some of it is age dependent as well. But one of the things that we look at is, about how hung over are you, how much did you have drink the day before, how in better shape is your body and then also the intensity level of your workout. Keep the intensity level little bit lower, so if you are thinking about doing a high intensity, intervals or sprints that day and if you are feeling hung over, it might not be the best to do.
And the other thing is, when you are hung over, you are more than likely dehydrated and your body is missing a lot of those vitamins and minerals in it and you need to replenish that. So a good thing is to grab some electrolyte filled water, not necessarily water with sugar in it, but something like smart water or something like that, that has electrolytes in it, it's going to help replenish those fluids, electrolytes in your body.
Sarah: Is there are any like specific exercise that I could do that would make me feel hundred hours better?
Stephen Cabral: A couple of them would be I stay with many like bent over type exercises. Now one thing is your blood pressure can fluctuate up and down with those, some body weight exercises you can do right at home are fantastic, even some calisthenics things like jumping jacks. Mountain climbers if you put your hands up on the bed where you are not dropping your head down too low, really aiming like that to get the blood flowing, some high knees exercises that are great. But then, also if you go to the gym, you can hop on or treadmill, you can go for a longer walk, you can do some incline walking as well, that's going to be helpful.
Sarah: When you say that you shouldn't do exercise where head goes below your heart, that's like the downward dog, and what else?
Stephen Cabral: Yup, a bent over rope, we are down to this position, you are creating a lot of abdominal pressure right here, some might be doing rows, why not if a day after that, hangover the day of the hangover, you are doing a pull down instead. A vertical pull instead of a horizontal pull, where you are bent over. The things like jumping jacks which we talked about, you are standing up straight and really anything that's going to compress the body. So doing heavy squat that day too may cause you to become a little bit more dehydrated from over sweating, but also compress within your core.
Sarah: And hopefully you guys enjoy this video and we help you feel better the next time you have one too many and don't forget to subscribe to DietHealth for more tips like this.
