Hi! I am Tina and we are doing Emo hairstyles. I am going to show you how to cut your hair into an Emo look.
With Emo hairstyles, a lot of times there is a lot of, what we call, disconnection, where it will be short long, short long, and there is nothing to connect the two. So what I am going to do is I am going to do this haircut with a lot of disconnection, and this is what makes the Emo style kind of cool, because you can do it at home and there is no real pattern.
What I am going to do is I am going to start over here, and I am just going to basically cut through. This is a great time to do point cutting techniques, where you can literally point your scissors down this way and cut the hair like that, so that you get sort of a jagged edge at the ends.
I am going to leave it longer on the bottom, a little bit shorter in through the middle section of the hair, and long in the front. She has already got sort of an Emo style, I am basically just going to refine it a little bit and sort of show you how her hair can be look a little bit differently.
So our model Jennie already has a really awesome haircut, I am basically just going in and sort of refining it. But you can see how it was cut before. When you pull the hair out, it goes short long, short long. Basically that makes it really edgy and cool, and when the hair is flat ironed and product is put in it, you can really get that spiky sort of effect to the hair.
But basically what I am doing now is I am going through and just refining the haircut. A good technique for doing that is what we call slide cutting. So what I am going to do -- and you want to make sure the hair is nice and wet when you slide cut, or else it will pull your hair and it won't feel very good.
I want this piece right here to really be thinner and to come to a nice point. So what I am going to do is slide cut the hair. Anytime you cut your hair, the way you cut it is going to train the hair to fall in whatever direction you want. So if you want it to fall a certain way, you can use your scissors and this technique to really like refine the hair so that it lays exactly how you want it.
So now what I am going to do is slide cut this front part just a little bit so that we get that nice swoop into a point. Again, make sure the hair is really nice and wet, and your scissors are sharp. If you don't have good scissors at home to use, you can always go to a fabric store, and fabric scissors are really nice and sharp, and not as expensive as haircutting shears.
So Jennie's haircut is all ready, it's finished, it's ready to rock. So it looks great. It's short to long basically, that gives it that Emo sort of edgy look to it. The shortest part is up here at the top, and the longest part is in the front and the sides, and then as you can see the back is still pretty short.
Alright. So her haircut is all good and now we are ready to blow dry. So in the next clip I will be showing you how to use a blow drier and a brush to blow dry the hair straight.
