How to Cut a Mangos

Mangoes are one of the most exciting fruits to add to a fruit salad or fruit play, or to sauté with chicken or shrimp. But a little know-how is needed to get the most from this tropical fruit. If you stand a mango on its end, then let it go, it will land on its meaty side. This will let you know how to cut it so you can get the most fruit from the mango.
To cut mango slices, first peel the mango using a vegetable peeler of a paring knife. Then cut a lengthwise slice down each side of the long flat seed as close as possible. Cut off as much flesh on the remaining two sides and discard the seed. Cut the reaming mango pieces lengthwise into slices.
For mango cubes, start with an unpeeled mango and cut the lengthwise sides from the seed. On the flesh side, gently score each piece horizontally and then vertically without cutting through to the skin. Then gently push on the skin side. The scored chunks will pop out making it easy to eat.
