The pineapple is the fifth most consumed fruit in the United States, and the second most consumed tropical fruit, that’s we here at watchmojo.com want to make sure you know the proper technique to enjoying your own pineapple.
Before you buy a pineapple, you want to make sure it’s fresh. The easiest way to find out is by pulling out the center leaf. If it comes out easily, you know it’s ready to serve.
Before you begin, you’re going to need a cutting board, a sharp knife, a peeler, and a of course a pineapple. A useful tip to know is that before you serve your pineapple, you should leave it in the fridge for 30 minutes, turning it upside down. This way all the sugar that has settled at the bottom will run through the fruit.
Step one is to remove the greens. You can use a knife to do this or simply twist it off with your hands. Or just use your hands and twist it up. Next you’re going to want to cut each end of the pineapple off. Now comes the tricky part. You’re going to want to shave off the sides of the pineapple keeping as much as the fruit as possible. Now using your peeler, take our all the brown divots. If removing the divots one by one is too tedious, you can just take a knife and go around although you’ll be sacrificing some of the fruit. Now place the pineapple on its side, and cut it according to the thickness that you prefer.
Another way to serve your pineapple is without the center, although this is the healthiest part of the fruit. You can easily remove it with a knife by following the line that’s already there and popping out the center.
Now all that’s left is to enjoy.
