How to Cut and Fit a Shimano Hose

On Shimano when you go to cut the hose, it's a little different, but you need to make sure that you basically rebuild this same sort of a system. So you cut it off, cutting it straight, clamping in a device. Well, it's still clamped in device, you then pound this thing in, or tap it in with a plastic hammer, and you put this olive on the hose. Olive should slip over after you tap that in, but it's maybe safer to slip the olive on first, and you need to of course make sure that you have this cover and the sleeve nut on ahead of the olive and this piece.

Once that's tapped in, and the olive is there, then you can tighten this into the brake, and it will squash the olive the way this has, and provide this perfect hydraulic seal, and then you just push this cover over it, and your hose is hooked up then you can bleed it.
