Evan Margolin: So, we just learned our basic step and it's kind of tough, but we learned how to break it down and count it, so we're doing just fine. I want to demonstrate the same thing to you from the back, so you can do it right along with me and then we're going to keep on going and learn some other variations.
So, let's do it. Here's what we're going to do. Counting up the basic steps. Remember, take your shoulders, roll them back, stand up straight, put your hands up above your waist, arms spacing towards your stomach, bend your knees just a little bit, relax and do it. We're ready to start.
Ready and one, two, three, five, six, seven again one, two, three, five, six, seven again one, two, three, five, six, seven again quick, quick, slow, quick, quick, stop. Great job!
Now, we're going to continue. We're going to learn something called the side basic. This basic is the forward and back basic, we're progressing forward and back. The side basic will take us side to side. Let me demonstrate it to you first. It's going to look like this. One, two, three, five, six, seven and one, two, three, five, six, stop. that's what your side basic looks like.
Let's break it down. Back to dance position. Bring your feet together, shoulders back, relax and on the count of one leader, left foot to foot, ready and one you place your weight on your right foot for the count of two. Two, bring your left foot back to your right foot, shift your weight for the count of three. Three, pause for the count of four. Right foot to the right on the count of five. Five, replace your weight on your left foot for the count of six. Six, bring your right foot back to your left foot, shift your weight for the count of seven. Pause, count eight. you're done.
Alright, let's try it. Left foot to the left to start. Ready and one, two, three, five, six, seven, the side basic. You step one, two, three, five, six, seven again one, two, three, five, six, seven again quick, quick, slow, five, six, seven. Last time one, two, three, forward basic, step forward on the left, one, two, three, five, six, seven and one, two, three, side basic now and one, two, three, five, six, stop.
You did great! But let's actually try to follow right along with me. I'm going to turn around and we're going to so the same thing. I'm going to call it out . We're going to try to keep it going.
Alright! Keep your feet together. Starting with the basic step, going forward on your left foot, ready and one, two, three, five, six, seven and one, two, three, five, basic now and one, two, three, five, six, seven and one, two, three, forward basic and one, two, three, five, six, seven and one, two, three, side basic now and one, two, three, five, six, seven and one, two, three and forward basic and one, two, three, five, six, stop.
