On behalf to TVLesson.com, I’m Lisa Corrao, I’m a stand up comedian, LisaCorrao.com. Ok,
let’s talk about bombing. Every one’s biggest fear in stand up comedy, and well, sorry to tell you
this, but it’s going to happen, it’s supposed to happen. It happens to everyone, Chris Rock has
bomb many times, and every comedian has. It’s how you learn and actually, once you do it a few
times you start to realize that it’s not that bad. You might even laugh at yourself. And the more
you do comedy, the less you’re going to bomb. Although even if you’ve been doing it a long
time you’re still going to bomb. I’m going to tell you a quick story, I did a show at a retirement
village once, oh yeah it was awesome. And the way they introduced me was, mind you
everyone’s about a hundred years old, they introduced me like this: well we know you came out
to see a singer tonight. Well, she just found out she has cancer, now you hear the audience say
“ooh” and they start talking because half of them has cancer too. And he goes, but don’t worry,
we got stand up comedy for you tonight, Lisa Corrao. I came out, I start doing my jokes and
well, first I get a couple of pee laughs. About 4, 5 jokes and now I’m getting nothing, I mean you
can hear crickets, it’s horrible. And I actually said this: oh well this isn’t working, I think I’m
going to try something different and an old man actually yelled, why don’t you try being funny.
Yeah, but here’s the great thing about it, I impromptu the rest of the show and it wasn’t too bad.
But oh man, you’re going to bomb. You got to figure a way to deal with it. And you know what,
it’s not that bad. You really learn the most from bombing. So it sounds so violent, right bombing,
like we’re going to kill someone. Good news is when you do great, that’s my nickel, bombing.
On behalf of TVlesson.com this is Lisa Corrao, thanks for watching.
