Greetings children! Mr. Flare here, Captain Disc is gone and guess what, things are going to change around here, first of all, we are going to stop using the word debug as a noun. That is the stupidest things I have ever heard. Second, we are going to lighten this place up and add some social networking and a few hot, sexy—oh, CD you are back, how are you buddy? I was just keeping them warmed up for you. Intruder! Imposter!
No, no Mr. Flare calm down, it is me it is just a disguise see. I had to hide my identity on the top secret mission.
Mission? What top secret mission?
The mission code named TAM6, observe.
The location was Las Vegas, Nevada the bottled water capital of the world and the objective was the amazing meeting an annual congress of critical thinkers put on by the James Randi Educational Foundation. My disguise worked perfectly so I was able to listen to a number of remarkable speakers without them having to stop and ask for my autograph.
The key note speaker was renowned Astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson who gave listeners an entertaining point by point explanation of his views on various paranormal topics which he fittingly titled “Brain Droppings” and everyday, my new friends The Skeptic’s Guide to the Universe recorded “Hey Captain D” recorded interviews with many of the presenters.
People like Phil Plait the bad astronomer, Psycho Illusionist Richard Weissman, Skeptical musician George Hrab.
Question, was anyone not a pasty the spectacle debug guy?
Sure, and I will tell what are there, they have got lots of hair between the two of them and their stage show played just a few blocks away at the Rio.
Did they say anything wild and controversial?
That is not important, what is important is that Myth Buster Adam Savage told a delightfully obsessive story about his quest to build an exact replica of the Maltese Falcon movie prop. You know, I can really identify with Adam, he told me that there are countless TV shows around the world trying to imitate Myth Busters. I looked into it and it turns out that one of them is a German TV program called Galileo which recently tried to bust the catching glasses with face video.
That is so nine months ago.
I know because they used actual visual aid footage that I created without permission and without crediting me in anyway. They pretended it was their expert that conducted the video analysis.
Look! The idiots did not even bother to remove your logo from the screen. Wow! I sure hope nobody floods them with angry emails.
Well, if there is one thing I learned at TAM is that it is best to stay positive. In the end, reason always wins. And there is hope for everyone. This year, about 900 clear minded people attended the amazing meeting and many of them were school teachers and college professors. If even a few of them carried the thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm for critical thinking but the JREF upholds into the classroom pretty soon there will be no shortage of intelligence.
No misguided superstitions, but instead, an increased appreciation for the world around us, and a stronger drive toward exploration of the countless mysteries of the universe.
That is beautiful. Very inspiring CD really, but I think most people visit to see you debug a thing.
Of course, let us see. What do we have to work with here, did this one? How about “Reptile Woman”
This well known clip takes an everyday unremarkable home video of a perfectly normal young woman and purports that she is a Reptilian Alien repeatedly loosing control over her human disguise in front of the camera. The video masquerades has scientific analysis of anomalous footage but it is really just a diatribe of wild speculation none of which stands up to any level of scrutiny, but when does it ever for a team Ufologist, Demonologists, and conspiracy theorist.
There would analyst gloss over the most important fact that this video is small has low frame rate and is highly compressed discounting that as the cause of anomalies with an argument that does not make sense and proceed to offer a reward to an
