Hi, I’m Michelle Johnson the face paint lady of Painted faces here.
We’re talking about decorating birthday picture frames. We’ve picked our frames; we’ve picked our art supplies. We’ve talked about the set up for the party and now we’re going to decorate our frames.
So with today’s digital cameras and technology and printers, you’re going to have a picture of the birthday child either with the guest or the guest on their own and then you print them up and then the child, you don’t have to put the picture in the frame as they’re decorating it might be a better idea not to. But the child does know that either their painted face or their unpainted face their birthday party picture is going to go in the frame that they’re decorating.
So we have two photos here and we have two frames, let’s put this one here and let’s put this one here on the loose site frame. Now what I loved about the loose sight frame, it’s a lot a of fun because you end up turning it into a keepsake or a momentum. So maybe ribbon is one of the products, one of the art materials that you chose, you can have themed art materials that you take from the child’s birthday. It’s the same color as the cake, it’s a special number because your child is turning whatever age they’re turning and this little in this loose sight frame, this little chop keys can go in, you can even take, and you can have your loose sight become a place where you glue items. And the glue is tacky glue, you’re using a cue tip the child is taking, now let’s say you were having a sea shell birthday.
You could take some sand if you were adventurous. Some sea shells and some other materials that are bit related, I don’t know little umbrellas, something fun. You don’t always have to go out and buy things. I’m not suggesting that you do, I’m suggesting that
You just look around your house and you’ll see what you have. I’m even going to try a jewel in here which of course is a little heavier than a sequence.
Now that tacky glue will dry, we have glitter and kids you know how they love all these stuff. We’ve got the glitter glue too which is a lot of fun, so you take your marker and they have to remember that the work that they are doing is backwards. So if they wanted to write their name on here they might drop it but that’s okay. If they wanted to write their name on here, my name is Michelle. So you would need to help the child to write their name backwards which can be frustrating. But let’s not forget that we also in the case of the loose sight frame, we have a whole another decorating area, the two sides and the top. Of course, the face of the cardboard is going to be where our image goes.
So we’ve decided that we would like to use the marker and this is where the sharpie comes in handy. We’ve glued and of course this would be drying, you’re not going to put them right in the child’s hand, you’re going to go ahead and have a drying station which is very important. And I found this fan, it’s a coolest thing, it’s just a little piece of fan and I’m just going to drop it right in here and let’s see how this goes. And it’s okay if the kids end up covering all not all but part of the image. It’s mainly the art experience that you’d like them to go through, that’s the fun the art process.
That’s frame number one, frame number two is a foam background. Once again you don’t have to put the picture in right away but you have the art materials that you’ve chosen. These are simpler because they are just stick on which is very convenient. You have enough of a variety, you have to remember enough of a variety and enough of a quantity so that the children can all let’s say everybody wants balloons. And we can even take and put these beads, I’m going to pop these beads. Have scissors on hand be careful that’s why you need an attendant so that you can have the ability for the older kids to make choices and use product that might be a little dangerous if it was unsupervised fro the younger kids.
So in this case I had the adhesive, the self adhesive pieces and then I chose to put beads which of course I needed the tacky glue for, scissors are one of the things that you would use let s’ say feathers, don’t you love feathers? We’ll take feathers and each of the children, it’s so fun to watch because they have their own picture of course but if your start them off with the same frame there’s no need to buy a bunch of choices of frames for them. You start them off with the same frame, you offer them all the same options of choices and it’s amazing to see the things that they come up with.
So look around your home, be creative in your preparation for the party, have fun finding things that you have, everyday things are quiet nice also. The sharpies are al ways very cool because kids like to write their names. They like to write their names, it’s a lot of fun or they can say for mom or dad kids like doing that stuff. When the pieces are hold vertically they’re going to be more challenging drying but you have that drying station that we talked about. You have the place where the child has done decorating their frame, they can set it over here, they can have the photo or just going to put mom and then we put dad on the top.
You’ve got the markers that will last; it will be a momentum for many years. Encourage the children to put the year, the date and their name on the back. Next thing, we will talk about safety in sending home your decorated picture frames with your party gusts.
