Welcome, celebrate your life and celebrate your home. I am Melissa Galt your host and lifestyle guide. I am also an interior designer, and the author of Celebrate Your Life, The Art of Celebrating Everyday
Today, I am going to share with you the tips on mirrors, when to use them and when not to? Mirrors are not to be used in place of artwork. I know a lot of you go, I don't have a piece of artwork, just get a mirror.
No, that is not what you want to use mirrors for. They are designed to reflect abundance. That means when you put a large mirror on the wall in your dining room, you want it to reflect a dressed table, a table that has a runner, a floor arrangement, candle holders or perhaps you want to create an eclectic collection of lladro figures, porcelain ceramics, something like that in the middle of the table.
You don't want to just reflecting a big old empty mahogany top. By the same token. Those of you that have wrestled mirrors at 150 pounds that's above your mantel, over the fireplace and somebody went back and sat down and looked in and realized that you are reflecting the ceiling fan and the empty wall. You know what I am talking about.
Mirrors have got to reflect something worthwhile at all times. Not just your pretty face as you are walking past it. They are not a substitute for -- in fact, the mirrors, is what they reflect and the frame around it.
That's why mirrors can have the most outrageous, wonderful, framings on them because that's the art of the mirror along with the reflection that you see. So again, mirrors are to be used sparingly, and when they reflect abundance.
The other caveat is you want to make sure that the mirror is placed in a way that encompasses the image of the person looking into it, and does it cut of somebody's head or the neck, because that's a very negative energy feeling with the mirrors 2:17
I have clients, once I walked in their home, they were both very fatigued. And I walked in and I am 5.71/2 and I would immediately cut off right across the middle of my face, because they have hung a mirror at their entry stairs. It worked for them but it didn't work for anybody else who came in the house. So it really needs to be something that works for everyone, coming in the contact with it as a positive reinforcement of your image.
Mirrors can be a lot of fun. They reflect the wonderfulness of the life. Celebrate life, celebrate your home, live well, and beautifully.
