How to Decorate with Mirrors
Feng Shui 101. How to decorate with mirrors.
Mirrors are wonderful in decorating because you can actually do some tricks with them. Obviously, a mirror reflects whatever is opposite. So, in this mirror by a front door, you cans see reflected art work. So, it makes it look like you’ve got a whole picture gallery. Another views for the mirror is to actually extend the reality, the virtual reality of the wall which is a little bit too cramped. You can see that we have a bump out and I believe behind this wall are some electrical energy and other elements of the foyer.
By mirroring that portion of the wall, it's actually extending this cutout visually. So, that’s good. So, you now you have this wall here which is the main element of your foyer and then you have a bump out and then you’re extending and curing using the mirror, you provide a cure, a visual acre. One of the things that you should avoid is fragmenting your mirror.
Now, it’s hard to get. Mirrors are expensive. So, I’m going to right up to this and you're going to see me reflected here in the mirror. That you can see were those of, there is some lovely lattice working. Actually, I like it very much. It’s a lovely decorative thing. But look what it does to my reflection. Here, kind of cut some of segments me. So, imagine having, if you have an apartment and that’s all you have was mirror walls with divisions imagine a health club. If you live in health club and saw your reflection broken by different divisions in the mirror between the glass hands, then that’s something we want to avoid. You want to make sure that you have continuity in seeing your reflection and that’s just psychologically more pleasing and so avoid darkened mirrors, mirrors where it’s called silvering or silvering worn away or antique defect some mirrors. You want to keep the glass clean bright and reflective.
