Hey everyone, it is Lyn. I have a lot of question from people asking me about uploading travels when they got large video files. And, the solution is to use DivX .DivX is a fairly new products. They are really really good about updates. Once you own software, they send updates constantly and what it does is it compresses your video files so that it is encapsulate it.
Encapsulates it so that when you uploaded it is about a 3rd of the sized of a normal video files. So, saves you time and time when you are uploading. So I will show you how to use it. How to download it, how to you know set it up and everything and hope this help you out.
Have a great day. Greetings from Alaska.
If you want to go to DivX.com, look down about middle of the page and you will see two buttons. One says download trial and one is purchase DivX Pro.
If you know that you are going need this thing and I tell you I cannot live with it, just go ahead and purchase it if you can afford the $19.99. It is worth it.
It will save you many, many hours of waiting.
Now, I am not going to bore you with all the details and had a downloaded and install it and all that. You just take the defaults and everything. Follow the instructions that it gives you pretty simple and once you get it on and installed, then the next thing you want to do is you want to go to your DivX Codec Configuration, which is in the program group of DivX that you installed.
The only reason that I am taking you to this configuration utility is as you click on tool bar and then uncheck the box that allows it to show a DivX water mark, which shows that DivX trademark on your screen. You may not want that so, uncheck that if you do not want it.
Okay so now you go to your DivX program group and click on Converter under the DivX group. Converter is what is you are going to be used in the most luxurer advance user. And, what you are going to do is it will put a little tool upon your screen that you can move around anywhere you want. Net where you can open up windows explorer you can drag one of your video files right into the converter and you tell to start converting and it converts. And, what this also does is it puts a file, a version of your video actually with a .divx extension into your my documents/my videos folder.
So, I will show you that here in just a second.
Now once you drag that file into the little divx converter, it is going to say one file in cue. And, if you want to look at that file, you can click on that blue button that says d-list. But, you do not have to.
You can just, what I like to use is home theater. You can see down there were you have choices, you can choose like portable home theater or Hi Dif. Actually, my favorite, very favorite setting is Hi Dif because you are really good picture.
So, let say I have a .AVI file or something like that, I am not have real good look with .WMV’s. But if you save your file of as a .AVI and then you choose the Hi Dif when you convert it, it comes out with looking really, really good and the sound is really good.
So, in other words I drag in AVI file into that little converter and I choose with the little blue and white arrow, I choose Hi Dif. And then, I click on convert. And, what happen is, is that DivX is converting my file into a more compact file, and it sticks it in my my document directory, under the my videos folder.
I mean you will see like a DivX folder in there. And, you will see all the movies that you ever converted into DivX.
Now, what DivX also does, it gives you in the package that you download and install, it gives something called the DivX Player. So, if you double click on a .DIVX file, is going to start playing it automatically in the DivX Player.
If you want to play it in Windows Media, or something else that plays AVI’s, you can always rename the extension to a .AVI, and it does not know the difference. It will still play it in Windows Media. So, either way.
Now what that gives you is a file that is a 3rd, about a 3rd of size of the original file which really makes it great. So, you just take that DivX file. You do not have to rename it or anything, just when you go to do your live video express, just upload it, upload you DivX file and you will find that you save a lot of time when you have time to do other things.
So, one other thing that sometimes happens with this is if you do a lot of audio of videos to fun your machine, at least on my machine, sometimes and I am trying to convert a file in DivX at the end, I will get an error message and usually it has to reboot my machine, refresh everything because sometimes, I do not know if that is my machine or the application itself.
But, if I am doing a huge file or something, sometimes it is just do not like it.
And if you reboot, it usually get in to work the next time. But anyway, just do not want to miss on that and good luck with DivX.
Hope you like and have a great day. Bye now.
