PUSHING TO MOUNT
We're going to work on how to take our side mount position and advance it to the mount, and there's a real common way that people will defend this from. So we're going to work a few ways to get around it.
Okay. So we got our opponent, in side mount. And he will stack his leg, so that now I can't -- my hip are here. I can't just step over this leg to the mount and was it, little bit trouble for us, but we've got some ways to cross it. So we're here, opponent stacks his leg. Now I can't just reach up and go over the mount, he has got a block. So I've go no options.
First is to take my knee, put it right across his belt line, right here. So I am going to take this knee and put it right here. Now I want to drive my shin all the way across his belt until my knee touches the ground on the other side. When it does, then I should take my leg over. So from here, I am going to loose my base, so I can let you see it, but this leg comes here, and drives all the way across, until it touches the mat, when it touches the mat, then I'll put my leg across. Now I am in a mount, okay?
With the base, the way it should really look, we're here. I slide at the end, all the way up, that's all way across. Some guys will put up more resistant than others, and won't let you get that. So we have a couple of different workarounds.
One of those workarounds, now Brian has his leg stacked, see this gap right around here,I can reach through here, and I can grab right there on the other side of his leg. So reaching through on the other side. Now I will use my shoulder and drop his legs to the ground, okay? So I am here inside now. I reach up and through. Now I can drive my shoulders to the ground and turns him. When this happens, I like to put my hand right here, so he can't get the position back. He'll probably be turning back towards you, anyway he is not going to take his back, but then I'll just put this knee right here, drive right back over into a mount.
One more time. Well, here our opponent has stacked his legs. I am going to reach up and through, grabbing, drive my shoulders to the floor. Now, post his leg, put my knee up, turn right back into the mount position.
That's one way to advance your position from the side mount to the mount.
