Cary Williams Nunez: Hi, it’s Cary Williams Nunez and Angelo Nunez Primetime boxing featuring Everlast. We’re going to be going over some body shots. Angelo is going to teach us how to throw proper body shots.
Angelo Nunez: Body shots are something we can talk about all day long. But back work is work set. I know you guys want to do some back work and that’s why you're tuning in. Let’s get the whole idea behind body shots. Cary is going to demonstrate.
Bend your knees. What you want to do is when you're on body shots you’ve got to bend down a little bit more than usual, you’ve got to toot out your butt a little bit and you’ve got to go a little wider on your stance. You're going to lean forward, take your forehead to the other person’s chest. Now, with that incur, you're going to go with your right hand you're going to go right to the belly button.
When you're throwing body shots and again we’re talking about professional, elite, amateur running these shots – yes, that’s the way to do it and a left to the body. Because you want to come up the middle right up the middle and go up the belly button. So again, that’s proper way of running body shots but again if you're talking about body works. In body works you want to work your core, you want to work your back, you want to work your chest, you want to work your everything – your biceps, your triceps and you forearms. I want you to go wide. You're going to show some love but you're going to show a different kind of love, you're going to go around.
So again, body shots on the back are wide. Now those are two body shots. Now a hook to the head and a hook there. Now, again we’re talking about wide shots; why? Because I want you to learn how to rotate your hips and shoulders. Now, when you’ve got time in your hands and you're able to get all these down then we’ll start going into the middle. But right now we come out with body work we’re going to go wide. Give me your stance Cary.
What Cary is going to do is she’s going to do a 1-2 we’re going to freeze. Ready? Go! 1-2. There you go, nice freeze. Now you jump in with the 1-2 you know you stepped to the left a little bit. Now you jump to my right side you're going to do wide body shots. There you go! You see how wide it is? You make sure your knuckles hit the bag. Now wide hook, and then wide right hook. Now triple jab out, and shake. Walk around the bag.
So again, remember guys when we’re working on heavy bag it’s about learning how to run your shots. So combination is 1-2, body, body, hook, hook, triple jab. Go! Again, get your body to tighten your abdominals up and turn your body into it—just slightly lean forward. Go! Now remember relax your neck and you just pop, pop, pop. Ready? Go! Put pressure on the back foot. You know when you ran your shots you're here – boom, boom, wide, wide, wide. Ready? G!
So again, when you guys are working on bag work we want to get you to the right lane but remember don’t take the fast lane. Let’s take it slow a little bit and we’re going to get into it. Ready? Go! So that’s the idea Cary.
Cary Williams Nunez: I love it!
Angelo Nunez: Alright, so that’s what we’re going to get at. So tune in next time guys.
Cary Williams Nunez: See you then.
