Hi, this is Kevin Hudda for GFI Software. Today I’d like to show you three tips on deploying GFI MailArchiver Outlook connector using GFI LANguard. We’ll start with the appointment of MSI pallet cell then we’re going to be using a custom executable file to set the GFI MailArchiver URL and we’ll finish with some general deployment options that can be used when deploying custom software with GFI LANguard. All right let’s go ahead and get started.
To begin, we’ll choose application management and deploy custom software from the tools menu. We first click add and point to the MSI file for the GFI MailArchiver Outlook connector. We’ll then choose a custom parameter, enter the slash Q for installing quite mode. We’ll also add a second file to set the MailArchiver URL and we’ll enter as a custom parameter to link to the MailArchiver website. We’ll then use the select option to choose the appropriate machine for the deployment and on the left hand side click edit deployment options. Now in this case we’re not going to warn the user but we will require a reboot and we’ll choose the option to let the user decide when to reboot. Once the options are selected, we can simply hit deploy to start the deployment. You will see here the files being copied and the process of installation starting. Once the installation completes, then we’ll switch to the client machine and go ahead choose the option to restart. Once the machine comes back up, we will log-in and go ahead and launch Outlook. Now, you can see from here that we now have the GFI MailArchiver mailbox and we display the synchronized folder structure from the users’ mailbox and can now view archived email within their appropriate folder.
So to review, the three tips that we looked at for GFI LANguard were number one, deploying the MSI file with the appropriate parameter. We also used a separate executable file to set the URL for the MailArchiver connector, and then we looked at the deployment options with the settings for warning the user as well as rebooting the target machine.
