Sarah: Welcome to the Calorie Minute brought to you by Diet.com. I am Sarah and I am joined with Body Transformation Expert Stephen Cabral. Today I have asked Stephen to show me a few moves that will help my body detox after all the part that I have been having up until the new year. So Stephen, today what detoxing exercise move am I going to be doing?
Stephen Cabral: We'll take two exercises and combine them together to really get the most benefit out of them. So we are going to combine exercises, these are both really great warm up moves, but you can use them anytime of the day, as long as that you are not too stiff. So you may want to do some general warm up before doing it, because there is some twisting involved, but that twisting will allow us to kind of massage the inside organs, open up the lungs and chest great for you. Great for to get going into your workout.
So we are going to take a Spiderman which is just a warmup we'll show in a second and then a twist, just opening your body from the mid back. Alright, so we are going to get started it today, down in your push-up position. So a pretty standard position, you are going to keep your core engaged. Just make sure when you are in a push-up position that your back is flat, and you don't drop your hips down. So now for us Spiderman what I want you to do is, take your right leg and step right up beside your right hand.
So now the archer before, if possible lines right up with your hands, that's perfect right there, if you can't get that height that's okay too. Now place your weight on that right leg and right arm. Now twist open and up with that side; that's great. So now we are rotating through the mid back, hit the part of the spine, we are opening up the hip flexes on your left side and then also stretching right around when the glute is attaching down here on your right side, come back down, and bring your leg back like that.
Now just bring your left leg up, right beside the wrist again. Take your time always stretch to where you feel comfortable, Sarah is pretty flexible, so she can go all the way into the stretch which is great. You might not be able to do, that's okay, you workout, right back down and move the leg back. So each one of these just takes about three seconds on each side. So you rotate right open, you are breathing out, good.
Whenever we would work the legs and stretch legs, we get more blood flow going through the body. That's why it's really important that you incorporate leg exercises into your workouts, especially a detox spine exercise or workout or movement like we are doing right now. So you are going to go for anywhere between, we'll say 12 and 20 reps or so and that's a great detoxifying movement right there, taking two exercises, combine them into one.
Sarah: For those who are at home who might not be familiar with detox exercises, who is the ideal person that these type of moves are ideal for?
Stephen Cabral: Well the movement we just went through here is for someone who sits down on desk the majority of the day. So for the someone who is sitting down in a forward flex position here, over keyboard for 8-10 hours a day and what we can do right here, such a realign your posture, you can get more oxygen into the lungs, which is going to be great for just oxygening the whole body into the brains as well and then also opening the hips and letting them start to feel the more full range of motion, and the same times sweating a little bit, getting some of those toxins out of their body, it's a great thing.
