Efficient, Effective Coaching Methods and Strategies
Hi and welcome to Football Done Right an interactive coaching website done for coaches
by coaches. My name is Coach Matt Stern. Today we’re going to be doing a Medicine
Ball hand fighting drill used to develop power through your hands coming out of your
three-point stance in a run get off situation. I have player one and player two in position
with a large medicine ball placed in between the two. Player one is going to fire his hands
out of the medicine ball driving the medicine ball towards player two. Player two will
then fire his hands out driving the medicine ball back towards player one.
They’re going to be shuffling down within a 5 yard increment in this case from the 10
yard lien to 15 yard line. At the 15 yard line their going to change direction and shuffle
back. All the while continuing to fire their hands, drive the medicine ball towards each
other. Very simple easy drill used to develop strength in your hands and quickness in
delivering your initial punch out of your three point stance. Player one ready, player two
ready, set, go! [Player one and two demonstrating]
Now great job on the drill, we’ll position the camera so we could show you from a side
angle and again they’ll do the drill. Usually I have my players run through twice again
giving them maximum repetitions in this drill so they can develop again that quickness in
their hand strike and power coming out of their three-point stance. Players ready, set, go!
[Player one and two are demonstrating] Quick hands, quick hands, quick hands, quick
hands, excellent!
Again this is a medicine ball hand fighting drill used with a large medicine ball
developing strength in there hands and quickness in their initial get off out of that three
point stance. For more information on this drill and more drills just like this please visit
