I am Steve Durano. Welcome to this episode of Body Performance. This is a followup to my last video. Why I do hear people, professionals, and personal trainers say “You know, getting in shape is 90% diet,” that is the key. They could not be more wrong nothing could be further from the truth. Sure, a healthy diet will help you loss weight. Cutting calories will help you loss weight, absolutely, but you cannot eat yourself to a better body and by that, I mean, you cannot eat yourself into making your body perform better. The only way you can do that is by using and expressing your body through exercise.
Giving you an example, let us say we take a 100 people, divide them into two groups. Fifty of them ate nothing, but the healthiest food in the world, but they did not exercise. They did nothing. The other 50, pretty much ate what they want, and where they want and when they wanted, but they exercised like maniacs. That was an interval part of their life.
Of those two groups, who do you think could be in better shape? Who do you think could be more muscular? Who do you think could be capable running a mile or have a lower blood pressure, things of that nature? Obviously, the group that exercise. Now, we took that group and we took away some of the bad food and given better food. They might be in better in shape, but of the two, whether it is eating or exercising. Exercising is so much more critical because exercising can improve your body’s performance and burn the calories, it is aggressive. You are not sitting around waiting for calories to fall off your body. You are actually utilizing them and when you are utilizing then you are improving your body’s performance.
So, of the two, exercise is much more important. That is why I say, it is not as critical what you eat simply eat less of food you like and exercise. Love your body.
