Male Speaker: Welcome to the iPod video take a part guide. To begin grab the case opener tool or flathead screw driver and gently insert it on the side of the iPod between the plastic casing and the middle casing, gently separating these apart.
Now do the same on the other side gently prong the top case out of the bottom hand, before you can separate the tool completely there is a ribbon cable that needs to be removed from the logic board this is held in place by a lock bar.
Simply lift the lock bar up and the ribbon cable will come free. To keep the lock bar from snapping off the logic board, lock the bar back in place. Now flip the bottom pan over on to inside. And lift the hard drive on to the other side, there you will notice that there is a ribbon cable connecting the logic board to the hard drive this is held on by a lock bar. Simply unlock the bar and the cable should come free. Now do the same for the last ribbon cable. Once that is complete, now grab your Phillips head screwdriver and remove the six Phillips head screws surrounding the inner case from the top case.
Once that is complete now disconnect the ribbon cable, disconnecting the LCD to the logic board this is held on by a lock bar simply unlock the bar and ribbon cable will come free. Once that is complete now remove the inner frame from the top case, once you do this, the center click button and the cushioning pillows will fall out. Now just remove the frame from the top case and remove the LCD insert the top cases out.
To remove the tri pad and logic board push the logic board out of the middle frame this is only held on by adhesive. There will be piece of the ribbon cable attach to the middle frame this is only held on the by adhesive, so gently pried this off with your finger or your flat tool. Now set the middle frame inside and to remove the click wheel from the logic board. There is a lock bar that we will need to be unlocked and the ribbon cable will be held on by adhesive, so the gently pried this off the logic board and ribbon cable will come free from the lock bar.
