Lyle Hurd: Sherry, we have been talking about Suntheanine L-Theanine, which for both us is one of our favorite ingredients and all of natural health. I'm not sure whether you are aware how it all came about, but Taiyo the company you've been talking about there in the green tea extract business. They, at one point in time realized that the monks drink, gallons of green tea, but it never seems to bother them, they never seem to get that edgy high that you get from drinking all sorts of caffeinated type of products. So they took green tea and they examined it because they realized that there must be something in that and they isolated Suntheanine L-theanine, which now we talk about on a regular basis. Could you tell us a little bit more about how it helps people that are in stressful situations?
Sherry Torkos: I think it's very interesting how we discover the health benefits with some of these natural products, for example as he mentioned with the L-theanine researchers looked at the properties of green tea and figured that there had to be something unique to it that was responsible for helping to negate the effects of Caffeine because when you drink a lot of Caffeine, we all know what that can do, it can make you feel hyper, it can make you jittery. For example people that drink a lot of coffee per day will notice they feel very agitated in that coffee can make their heart race. Whereas when you drink green tea it doesn't that effect in that researchers have found as because green tea contains some of these L-theanine, which is calming and relaxing amino acid that actually helps to counter the effects of caffeine. Now in different Asian cultures where they drink a lot of green tea, they maybe able to get a decent amount of L-theanine however, most people here in North America are not drinking nearly enough green tea to get those benefits, in fact you would have to drink anywhere from 10 to 40 cups a day of green tea to get the necessary amount of L-theanine. So, I think what I would recommend as a pharmacist for people that are looking for the anti-stress properties of the L-theanine would be to take a supplement and Suntheanine, which is the panted form of L-theanine by Taiyo is the only one that I'm aware of that has undergone extensive clinical testing. They have evidence to show that there are Suntheanine can benefit people that are struggling with stress and anxiety, PMS, sleep disorders, and also how to boost and bolster immune benefits.
Lyle Hurd: Probably, it could be good when you are going into a social situation, you don't feel comfortable about or taking a final too.
Sherry Torkos: Yeah, absolutely. I think if you are going and studying for exams the fact that L-theanine can make you feel calm and relax and yet have heightened mental capabilities is very fascinating. I think there are number of benefits with this product and I'm excited about it.
Lyle Hurd: So we need to process stress naturally with L-theanine, right?
Sherry Torkos: That's right. I would recommend as a pharmacist trying to go the natural route rather than taking pharmaceuticals.
Lyle Hurd: Appreciate you.
Sherry Torkos: Thanks.
