How to Dive and Roll

Section 4. More Challenging Drills Dive & Roll The first exercise in this section is in many ways more physically challenging than the previous games. Have one child hold a hoop on a soft surface like grass, or on a tumbling mat as we here in our gymnasium. Other children run and dive through the hoop into a forwards roll. If needed a lead up exercise is to simply have the children try a dive and roll on the soft surface without the hoop, and to challenge slightly older children, have the holder raise the hoop off the ground. This is definitely a drill for agile children, and not most adults.
