The spectator can choose any card. Remember to place this card back on the bottom of the deck.
Shuffle the cards but retain the spectator’s card on the bottom of the pack.
In this example we are using a simple overhand shuffle.
Next, out of the spectator’s view, position the cards as shown, making a small step in the pack.
Position your left hand as shown here, small finger supporting the base of the pack.
Thumb on one side of the pack and three fingers on the other side.
Spectator’s and magician’s angle of view are shown here.
Make pointing finger action with hand. Spectator cannot see the small finger pushing up the card.
Push card upwards until it pushes forward into the step in the pack
Now push the rising card back down into the deck slightly with your extended first finger.
At the same time push up the base of the stepped deck slightly with our curled little finger.
This all makes the deck look natural not gimmicked.
Now pull the rising card from the deck and accept your applause.
Remember to practice your angles in a mirror or with a friend.
