How to Do the 90/90 Powerbandz Workout by Coach Joey D

90/90
This next exercise is called a 90/90. Let’s talk about what a 90/90 addresses a 90/90
basically means we’re going to turn from a point of the fixed application to a 90 degree
turn and why we do that in golf is if you start to correct our posture and we move into a
turn that creates about a 90 degree movement pattern it starts to allow the body to know
what to do in about the first half of the golf swing so most people as time goes by they
begin to get a little bit reconditioned so from the sternum to the waist we call that the
core.
So this is going to address core strength and a nice movement pattern to about the first
half of the golf swing so let’s take a look at what 90/90 means. Again always paying
attention to a very similar posture as you set up, if a club is in your hand so you think
about that it’s a good swing thought to start out with. Let’s address that position so now
we’re in good posture, let’s grip on to the bands and again making sure they are attached
to a fixed point resistance is always an important factor when you’re completing an
exercise and you want to make sure that you turning the same way as you would in golf
swings and not too much resistance enough to get your body you respond to what has to
happen as you are going to create a result.
So create your posture, once you’ve created your posture start to make your turn, grip
both handles and begin your rotation only to about 90 degrees. Now what’s going to
happen is at the same time you make that 90 degree turn, pay attention again to what
happens with the hip. So many times we don’t understand that there is a direct
relationship with the upper body and the lower body so you have to create movement
patterns at the same time. So a 90/90 if you do it correctly as you rotate to the right make
sure that you’re looking down in the same position as you would be looking down as you
take away and you turn and if there was a ball in front of you.
So bandz relates to club let’s always keep that in mind. This is really a tool. This is really
a training device and in your mind it almost looks like this is a club so let’s make the turn
rotate the hip when the hip stops the band stops. Here’s a 90 degree turn. Another great
tip for you, if your shoulder is in the right position at completion, the exercise will always
be in about the same position as the club would be when it stops. 90 degrees and when it
comes to repetitions let’s remember repetitions are only a number. Let’s not get caught
up on numbers in this video.
So this is just the movement pattern that once you create the right sequence and the
neurological receptors or those little communicators from the brain to the end of the
movement pattern and the exercise all sync together say this is what it has to feel like
when it feels right my golf swing. Posture is correct, movements starts with both upper
and lower body and it stops at the same time. Now remember we’ve been talking about
this and you hear me say it many times throughout this whole video what you do to the
right you do to the left, bout remember balancing the body is the most important thing
you can do in golf a strong right side and a strong left side creates a really good
movement pattern. So let’s look at what happens if we were going to turn left.
Again create a good posture, start your rotation, 90 degrees. Remember this 90/90
exercise communicates to the body what happens in the first part, the first half of the golf
swing and that’s a really important part of golf swing, so what you do to the right,
remember you have to do the left, create good balance and symmetry.
