Submissions 101, I am going to show you how to do the Filho break.
This is from the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu system, Eddie Bravo. This is one of my favorite arm breaks, especially when you are in this spider web position. So, again, lock at his shoulder, my hand, cutting towards the waist, grabbing onto the legs, this is the spider web position.
Now to get the Filho break, what I am going to do is -- this is named after Paulo Filho and I am going to reach up, then grab on to his wrist. Notice, I still have this spider web here. My other hand comes in, and grabs on, in a Figure Four, kind of a hammerlock from here.
Now, what I am going to do is, I am going to squeeze my knees together, and I am going to be leaning back in a diagonal fashion to break the hole, there is a armbar. You are basically armbaring just with one of your arms there. So, spider web position, here, reaching in, grabbing, holding, extending and then the guard.
Let's change the position. So, this hand, when you are going toward, cuts in towards the waist, you don't want to keep it out here. Keep it out here, is not very strong. So I cut in, locking, reaching in, there is the hammerlock, pulling, and there, you've got the trick.
This is a very high percentage break for me, and most of my students, when they are going forward. So there is that Filho break from a arm break.
