Submission 101. Getting down straight to a shoulder crank or lock from the open guard position. Frank Mir did this in the UFC, I had a few requests for. It puts a tremendous amount of strain on the shoulder area.
So, again my guard here, and what I am going to do is -- if he makes the mistake of placing the hand on the mat, I am going to take my hand, I am going to loop it over the triceps. His elbow is right there. It's just over the top and I am wrapping it so it kind of starting to shift. Once I do that, grab onto his hand, I shift that and watch where my knee goes. It goes right across belly. Now, I am going to grab on, there are lots of tricks to grab on, the gable grip, you can just hold -- I prefer gable gripping here. Now, what I am going to do is I am going to squeeze really tight his arms against my ribs. I am going to extend the leg which is on his belly and I am going to be pulling towards my face with this arm.
As you can see it starts to tore off the shoulder. So here big mistake, this is usually Jiu-Jitsu one on one, you can never want put this on the mat because of the certain things you can get. So this is where I see it, I will grab it. I grab on to the other hands, so I can just out get my shin across his belly, I will grab on and then go for the submission there.
So just a basic shoulder crank from that position.
