Submissions 101, we're going to do a cross collar defense from someone's guard. We've had some requests. What happens when someone -- you're in someone's guard and they do a cross collar lapel on you. And people are like, well, I can't get out and he's pulled down anyway, as he's trying to defend, I can't do anything. It can be extremely difficult to get out of this position. The thing you have to worry about is getting choked, because he has his leg power, he's got this ring in, so he can give me the cross collar lapel choke.
So what I'm going to immediately, I take my hand and I place it through here. Just like the telephone defense that we do for armbar and triangle defenses and things. So I'll take my hand, and I feed it in. Notice that my hand is feeding. There is the bottom hand, there is the top hand. It's here, like this. Now my elbow is driving down onto his -- underside of his elbow in his biceps here. So I come in, I'm driving, now what I'm going to do is I'm going to be wiggling my elbow against his biceps. I'm trying to crush it here and protect the neck.
So he's got it, he's pulled in, come in, I'm protecting, and I'm driving down, trying to make him to squirm. Now once he's squirming, then I can move and I can start pulling back. You just don't want to lay here like this and try to push away. You won't be able to do it. Another distinct is being in someone's guard, he's got the lapel choke and you're like, well, I'm going to do a lapel choke. The problem is, he's got his legs and he can get you.
So again, when you feel this and he's pulling down, take your hand, feed it through, brace it here and take the point of your elbow and drive it into the biceps. Make him squirm here and then you can start pulling back.
So that's the Spike Cross Collar Defense.
