Katherine: Today's exercise is Teaser Boat Challenge, but before we began, we want to make sure that everyone checks out ultimatepilatesworkouts.com because there are fully linked workouts there. Alright, let's get into the exercise. So, this is a great exercise, its advance to teach the difference between the yoga boat courses versus the Pilates teaser physician. They are both very valid position, but they are little bit different for discipline, so this is an exercise that encompasses all that. Starting nice and tall with sit bones, inhale to stake and exhale, squeeze the abdominal and rollback of the sit bones, one leg lifts into table top position, then the other leg into table top position, and even go ahead and keep holding on to the legs at this state, if you want to just reach the legs out long.
So that is your teaser position. Now, if you can't straighten your legs fully that's okay too. We must suggest this of course as well. On the exhale, we would want to link them out through the thoracic spine and the lumbar spine that or we're going to hit our both pose. Inhale here to stay and exhale like someone's squeezing your ribs -- squeezing the ribs here and sliding down. It's actually sometimes a little bit hard holding the leg because you don't get as much.
So she going to take her arms away now and we lengthen the thoracic spine into the boat pose here, and now exhale think of squeezing the ribs rolling back into the teaser position and we'll just do one more. Inhale here, exhale lengthen into the boat pose, nice and a neutral spine here, and then exhale rounding the lower back bring the thoracic spine back into neutral for teaser position, and then from there we can bend knees and bring one foot down and other foot down. And those were the teaser boat challenge, and so just remember that even though, technically it's harder to not hold on to your legs because you have to use your abdominal muscles more. The holding arms on to your legs and make sure you are not have enough freedom to adjust.
