When I first got an Xbox 360 I programmed a universal remote not to turn the Xbox off when I was done with everything else, because I was downloading a lot of these games, videos and stuff from the marketplace, I didn’t want to interrupt the downloads. Now I mentioned this on buzz out loud and a fist full of people wrote in and called to remind me that Microsoft fixed that issue a while back, here’s how to activate background downloads.
Go to your Xbox or its called My Xbox. Over here to System Settings. And down to, actually, it’s the first one you got, Console Settings and choose Shutdown options. You’ll see the Background downloads option right there, choose that. Click on Enable, choose that.
You navigate by the way with these up and down arrows and the A key to select. Say Yes you’re sure you want to enable background downloads. And there you go.
Now when you turn off you Xbox, downloads will continue at a low power mode until the download completes, then it shuts off. Hope that makes your downloading on Xbox makes it more convenient. I’m Tom Merritt, Cnet.com
