Now we have started to build our catalog, let's expand on that. I will show you how quickly and easily you can add assets to a catalog by simply dragging and dropping files from folders on your hard drive directly into Expression Media. I am going to go ahead and shrink the program down just a little bit here, I am going to dive in here and get some files inside of my Chapter 01 Project Files folder.
We have already imported the Baby Photos, so let's go ahead now and we will select Intro Videos, Magazine, and Roads. And I have selected those simply by Shift+Clicking and selecting those individually like that, and now what we are going to do is we are just going to simply take these and we are going to drag them over into Expression Media and we are going to let them go.
Now as soon as I let them go, Expression Media is going to start building thumbnails for those. I will go ahead and jump back into the Maximize Screen Mode here, and as you can see Expression Media is building thumbnails for each individual, one of these. Some of the images already have Ratings applied to them, some of them do not and if I scroll through here, you will see the different types of media that we have imported.
For instance, we have JPEGs here, we also have a QuickTime Movie, and we also have a native Photoshop document directly inside of the Media Window, all previewing perfectly fine with great crisp and clear thumbnails. Now you will notice over here on the left-hand side inside of our Catalog folders, that we have updated here, we have got the Chapter 01 folder now as the main folder, and if you open this up, we also have individual file folders listed inside of here. So there is the Baby Photos, Intro Videos, Magazine, and Roads, and like I said before, you could simply use this as a sorting panel.
For instance, if you wanted to see only the Baby Photos, click right here on this little icon here, it automatically switches to just the Baby Photos. If you wanted to see just the Videos, you could click there, and there is our Windows Media File, and also our QuickTime Movie right there, directly in the pane, and we have sorted those out. All the rest of the files are now hidden.
Now if you want to get back to all of the files, you could simply click this little green dot right here next to the Intro Videos, or you could come back up here and click the little home button, and once you click that, it's just going to show all of the items again for this particular catalog.
So now, we have all of those items displayed directly here inside of the Thumbnail panel. So you can see it's very, very easy to simply add assets to your Catalogs by just dragging and dropping files here inside of Expression Media. Now next, we will take a look at how to import images directly from a camera or input device, and bring them into Expression Media quickly and very, very easily.
