Hi, this is Michelle Johnson the Face Paint Lady and we’ve come up with our thumbnail sketch for our birthday banner for James and now I’ve set myself of a work site.
Generally, when you’re working on this at home you’re going to set yourself up a horizontal work site. I went ahead and put a vertical surface here so that you could watch me doing this. This is a very important time to think about this one aspect of what you’re doing. When this banner is complete, you’re going to hang it somewhere, you’re going to hang it somewhere, you’re going to hang it on the wall, you’re going to put it on a piece of cardboard. You’re going to do something that puts this in a place so that your guests have access to this.
You want to consider what type of media are your guest using paint or they’re using glitter or they’re using glue or they are using markers and the that’s important that you put it on appropriate wall that you would like to have those art materials up again. So here we go, we’ve got our thumbnail very casual, have fun with this, make it big and you can do letters that people can color in to. It’s like an autograph, that remember when you were younger and you had dogs and other type of stuff animals that you would have friends signed on.
So it can be very like bouncy back and forth, they can be casual, there is no rule other than fun that you need to have for this birthday banner. So your letters can be up and down and back and forth and tall and short but you always have to make sure that you have enough room. So we’ll finish up, we’ve created the open letters so that there’s another place for people to color in to.
Okay, we have happy birthday, now the focus of a birthday is always the birthday child. So let’s make the child’s name very large and we’re going to put a couple of presence, put your tape down and this is where we can put of the actual wrap that James will receive on some of his presents. This is a very loose drawing, you can make yours as tight as you’d like.
I tend to be a very gesture draw or place were doing this on a vertical surface you might have more control of you on a horizontal surface and as a matter of fact looking at this there’s a lot of marker space when. When you’re creating your own and you’ve got this much paper, because this is the type of craft paper I would say it’s about 2½ or 3foot tall. You’re going to get a roll of heavy duty white craft and the craft paper is actually taller than it appears here on this table top.
So in your own banner that you would create, you would have more white paper space where your guest can leave wonderful messages and do sweet little decorations that are specifically from them to James.
So thanks for listening about how to put it on a larger piece of paper, we’ll come back with the art supplies and ideas to have fun for your guests as they decorate their birthday banner.
