How to Draw a Face
On behalf of tvlesson.com, my name is Jacklyn Laflamme and I'm a professional artist. In this clip, I'm going to show you how to draw a front view of the face. We’re going to start off with just like a basic oval shape just like that. And we’ll do it quite lightly. Ordinarily, you might want to do this part in pencil, so that you could erase your lines. But for the purpose of this video, I'm going to use a marker. Then we’re going to do another very, very light guideline to show the center of the face and we’ll do another cross line where the eyes might go, the nose and the mouth.
You wanted just divide your face up into three sections. So you’ll have your hairline here actually we’ll add one more line in where the hairline would go. And then you would have three equal parts. Then we can start working on the eyes. So the eyes are going to be kind of like oval shapes. And then you can do the circles in the eyes and then we would have a little bit of an eyebrow, just little arch eyebrows and then a couple of little lines just to define where the lids would go.
Then we’ll start working on the nose. So we’ll bring a little bit of a line down and then a little bit of a curve line for the nose. And then, we’ll work on the mouth, so you’ll just do two more little curve lines like this, kind of curled that ends up with the ends of the lips. Bring it down and then you can bring a little line for the middle-center of the mouth like this and then some lines coming down.
You might want to draw this point, a couple little lines for the neck. And then we can start working on hair. And the hair doesn’t need to be that difficult. You could just do a series of swirly lines. Maybe have some hair coming here, a little bit of a line for the ear, some hair coming up here, come down and just think about where the hairline would be. And again, keeping in mind remembering that you would normally go back and erase these guidelines because they would be done in pencil.
And we’ll add just a couple more lines, another line here for the ear, a line here, a few more spikes of hair. And that’s how you would draw a face.
