How to Draw the Lowercase Calligraphy Letters - Practice Sentences

Hi, I’m Julian Wasserman, and this is the Wasserman Design studio where we are learning chancery cursive script. We’ve learned all the small letters, and we’re gonna be writing sentences. There are two sentences that you’ll have a fun time practicing with. They’re short and they use every single letter of the alphabet. So the first one is called pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs. And we’re writing in all small letters, coz that’s all we have learned to do and that’s just fine. So here we go with that P… and I’m turning my pen to get that foot on the K, and now I’ll add the, I finished the words. So now I’ll add the extra little touches like the hat on the K. Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs. The letters have a rhythm of movement and they are a joy to make. It’s very meditative. The concentration that it takes to make all of these letters will send you into a different world and you’ll forget about any other things in your day until you stop with your writing and then all those will be recalled again. Dozen liquor jugs. Notice how I still dotting my I after I’ve written the whole words so that I’m not breaking the rhythm of the strokes that I’m making, and trying to keep them as uniform and parallel as possible even though every one of these letters is a little bit different from every other one. It’s a way I found that lets me keep on going with the parallelism that I’ve been writing… jugs. So that’s one sentence. And I’m not gonna put a period because I didn’t capitalized the letter, letter of the first word, I just put a dash. So these are sentences using all the small letters. And we’re ready to move on to learning the capital letters of the chancery cursive script.
