How to Dress Up your Laptop
Tiffany Young: Hi, there and welcome to Neo-Fight.tv, a technology show for the ‘not so geeky.” My name is Tiffany Young.
Ben Freedman: And I’m Ben Freedman and today on the show we have to look up some stuff. Do you like to look at some stuff?
Tiffany Young: Cool I love to look at some stuff.
Ben Freedman: So some people have written in and commented that whenever we’d have a laptop on the show lately we have this sticker at the back of the laptop. The skins and let’s those for other business where we other videography stuff we put this on this like as apricots and people will say what that’s skin that you’ve got on the back of your laptop? So I thought let’s show people what we’ve put on the back our laptop.
Tiffany Young: This is our real job.
Ben Freedman: This is our real job.
Tiffany Young: Please send those donations.
Ben Freedman: So all the company this is my luxury home, BMI.com we decided to put skins on it to two different companies and if you’re looking it for way to dress up your laptop either with a sports theme or musician or city or city of something. Affiliation you want to put on there or something custom because of these has the ability to upload your own graphics and make a custom skin for your laptop. This is a great place to do.
The fist place we went was this place, which is called iTopper, and you can put that up a little bit, you just rotate that right up and I don’t know if you can see and thank I’ve got another one here this come like this. They come with paper on both sides so just peel of the backside you stick it on and then you peel for the front side. So it’s got protection on both sides which you kind of nice but I looked at the printing on this and I don’t know if you can see and hold there and we’ll just zoom a bit on here and you could see this likes some bonding in the area here and the text is not really that sharp. And it’s kind of matt finished and I don’t know about you but I wasn’t really happy with that mat finish.
Tiffany Young: Well now if you compare it with this one, that’s fine.
Ben Freedman: And let’s do that we’ll compare this side by side I’ll pop this one up to this is from another company called a Skinit. Skinit.com and if you take into difference it looks great and the—. First of all this I a shinier there’s no bonding at all on the black because you see I’m lining myself here the thing here and the text over here is just a lock crisper and I don’t know if I can get a good zoom in on that just to see the difference.
Tiffany Young: That is so not even close to. They really are now they promise like to back to iTopper and said you know there are a way that you can reprint it without the bonding and they got basically said now what we do you stock and I said well these are satisfactory thing can I get my money back or discount for me to set it now.
Ben Freedman: Right here is very nice to me.
Tiffany Young: What is the difference in pricing on this?
Ben Freedman: About the same.
Tiffany Young: About the same price.
Ben Freedman: Yeah 20 something each, I mean the iTopper is really a little cheaper but for a few dollars, I mean piece get it once are just head, hand and shoulders above.
Tiffany Young: The skinny one’s let me show you right there a quite that’s really a passing so not know how can we make it right.
Ben Freedman: No.
Tiffany Young: Because it could not make it right probably.
Ben Freedman: I guess not they don’t want to reprint it and it was just, he was just like that’s it, it’s a custom thing and did it you pay for it. No we did it we pay for it but we’re going to redo with this ones this is what this ones look like when it come and you can this is for that type of PC.
Tiffany Young: I want that, I want that one.
Ben Freedman: You want that one.
Tiffany Young: Yeah.
Ben Freedman: And they also do the Skinit people also they don’t just do laptops if you take a look here we got it. Oh check this out
Tiffany Young: Oh little baby back for iPhone’s.
Ben Freedman: That’s right so take this and they do as well different kinds of cell phones and you can actually put a little Skinit thing on your phone.
Tiffany Young: Which is nice and relative differentiate yourself from.
Ben Freedman: Well you know what it is for free advertise
Tiffany Young: And it is free advertised.
Ben Freedman: You have to walk around like this and why not have a logo on the back so somebody say, “hey who’s the idiot on the phone?” Oh, he works for the MLH.
Tiffany Young: Or when you’re driving and you’re not supposed to be on your cell phone. I don’t where to go.
Ben Freedman: That’s right. Yeah. So these are two companies, you’ve got to check on both out iTopper and Skinit personally if I had a recommendation I would go with Skinit.
Tiffany Young: Well obviously.
Ben Freedman: And not just because of the quality because I could see as somebody one of the Mac finished that this is not by quality but I just wasn’t treated terribly by one of those guys and I slap the scar.
Tiffany Young: Well then I think that if the pricing was it there was a big difference of pricing I could see the quality different but obviously there’s none.
Ben Freedman: So that is iTopper and Skinit and we’ll be right back in a moment so give us an extra second. Stay Tuned.
Ben Freedman: And we’re back here in the second spotlight today, how many times is this ever happen to you?
Tiffany Young: Oh my God all the time.
Ben Freedman: Okay let me say it. Okay so out of tradeshow floor or a conference or you had a business meeting we deal laptop and in laptops good for three hours, four hours whatever your laptop batteries good at. You have a second battery because you know you going to be needing all day power, so brought with you a second spared battery. You have spare battery for my Mac Book. So I have a spare battery so your first battery runs out, run back to your hotel room or whatever, swap batteries and you put your second battery and then you’re good to go again for another three of four hours right.
The problem is this what then if you need more your first battery is back at the hotel room just sitting on the desk it’s not charging because most of the time you r battery has to be inside your Mac or inside your laptop for you to be charging it has to be plugged in. What a pay. Sometimes that happen to or never.
Tiffany Young: No, I run out of my HP and laptops and let’s switched that battery all the time.
Ben Freedman: Right and the problem is you need as many as you can’t be charging one while you’re doing the other right and then when you go back to your hotel room you plug one in and that’s only that one that’s charging. The other one is sitting over here.
Tiffany Young: The idea make sense what how much do you know about how much your cost right.
Ben Freedman: Well actually, I haven’t introduced the product yet so I probably should do that and tell people what we are talking about.
Tiffany Young: Candies look here.
Ben Freedman: So this is from a company called fast Mac this is the fast Mac true power universal battery charger and it is universal to Mac it doesn’t charge so and charges Mac batteries but basically you can have your Mac Book, your Mac Book Pro and I want you to plug this in the power and which isn’t right now. When you plug it in and you take your battery out what we’ve done with this one which become very easily for the Mac Books and when you put your new battery in. That’s fine you have to treat your and before you do you plug this in like so and now this now charges up lights come on and this now charges up if you turn that a little bit.
Put your right on white it’s almost impossible to say there it is. This is now charging your spare battery so you go out of charge two at once and they both plug in or you can be out using this and when you come back to your room in a few hours this will be ready to go again. So this saves you the issue of having a charge while you’re off.
Tiffany Young: Good idea. I think, I mean just do anything that I don’t know it really the I don’t use a lot of double batteries so without being said I will just think it will be easier to have some sort of a battery pack that charges your laptop.
Ben Freedman: Kind of like we could check when we have the iPhone.
Tiffany Young: Sure exactly like that.
Ben Freedman: If it’s under your laptop now that will make you that to carry that with you here as your laptop will be heavier.
Tiffany Young: But then you stop to run back to your hotel room anyway. So I mean time is money and money is time, what probably is —
Ben Freedman: There is a company that they will make it for Mac’s but there is a company that makes a battery that’s like flat and thin and you kind of sick underneath your laptop.
Tiffany Young: Yeah.
Ben Freedman: Yeah and it plugs in and it charges your laptop like you’re saying release the power as your laptop so you’re not using the internal battery.
Tiffany Young: Because really you’re adding up with the double battery or days with the battery.
Ben Freedman: Right either way.
Tiffany Young: Either way.
Ben Freedman: Right so this is good if you need it to be as light as it can be but you also want to have another battery charging in the background.
Tiffany Young: And so the question is how much is an extra battery and —
Ben Freedman: Well so, for Mac you typically have extra batteries about a 100 box a 120 box so you go by that and then this charger for what it is, is 70 boxes so it’s not cheap as charger.
Tiffany Young: Okay so I’m talking about — so I mean row will come down to dollars and cents right.
Ben Freedman: Below $200.00 package for secondary and a charger.
Tiffany Young: We could see how this to be at the airport because they do have outlets at the airport
Ben Freedman: Right and then at the airport you just Plugin the laptop.
Tiffany Young: Oh yeah but you know you could plug in your lap charge that one and this one just in time. If you wanted to do a monopoly on the whole outlets it will be part.
Ben Freedman: Yes that’s the point, totally. So, you know I like this device it’s a bit for 70 box it’s like this doesn’t really clip in it just sort of fits in and you got to make sure it gets a connection and if you bumped it in it is easily comes out, this is fills a little bit pass the key.
Tiffany Young: House keeping will totally mess up your module, I see, I see it coming.
Ben Freedman: House keeping comes along about secondary time. I would like to see this slightly hired build quality so I’m only going to give the four to five but I like what it does and I think it is a very narrow market but for those people who need to charge an external battery separately.
Tiffany Young: It might be it might be a good idea.
Ben Freedman: Yeah.
Tiffany Young: You know I probably wouldn’t use I try to find something and actually I’m sure of scene stuff that charges this battery without having to go run around and find out what’s in all that stuff for like 50 or 60 box. I don’t really think it was.
So I personally want to use it and I just want to see a need for it on the act the average consumer probably is not going to use it. So you know to out of five for me I think price in the combination of pricing really puts it down and points for me so to verify.
Ben Freedman: Do you have five for devony four to five or six out of ten for the true power universal Mac battery charger from fast Mac and that’s all the time we have for today. Send us a comment on the website www.Neo-Fight,tv Tell us if you would used it yeah I think trade show goers frequent travelers people who need constant use, mind to my need but this assumes that you don’t only need the battery in your laptop. And the second battery but must also be charging the first battery while you are using the seconds you like constant power away from the charger for this a narrow pretty narrow market.
Tiffany Young: But it’s still useful for the right person.
Ben Freedman: Indeed. That’s also we have for today but if you have an extra30 seconds stay tuned.
