How to Dye Wood Bangle Bracelets

Rainbow Bands
For base color:
Shake Up some yellow dye plus measure 4 tbsp. Mix into 2 cups, very hot water (140 degrees Fahrenheit). Stir two cups. Amounts of dye and water can vary depending on the shade of color desired, dip for bands of color.
Resist Pattern, apply at resist and deep. Dye won’t absorb where resist medium is applied.
Hand Painted. Paint a design with dye, a small amount of dye + a splash of water.
Twine Pattern. Wrap with wet twine and let is set in a small amount of dye. Dye travels to create a pattern.
Tips:
Hot dye absorbs better.
Reheat in microwave oven for 30 seconds as needed.
The dye will be lighter once its dry but you can always apply more dye if you want a darker the color. Or you can apply a second shade to achieve blended color in certain areas. Remember, rules of color mixing apply. To seal your dyed bangles, apply a coat or two of polyurethane. And rub lightly with steel wool between coats. Remove dust with tack cloth.
