How to Eliminate Feedback Using a Graphic Equalizer

Let’s say that all is well except there is a low-mid roar in the drum monitors from kick drum mic feedback. Let’s go back to the graphic equalizer that controls the drum monitor. Have the drummer play the kick drum with a slow, steady beat and let’s find the trouble frequencies. One at a time, pull way down the lower mid frequency sliding controls on the drum monitor equalizer until you hear the roar disappear. Once you find and stop the roar, bring back up to one or more sliding EQ controls until the sound is back to a more natural stay, but the roar is still not there. In other words, cut the frequency enough to stop the feedback but not so much that it destroys the quality of sound in the monitor.
