Welcome to PCWizKids Tech Talk. Today I wanted to show you how to enable Window Vista Extra’s such as the Dream Scenes. Now to do that easily you just run the Windows update first. So, in Windows Vista Ultimate for example, I have here with me the checking updates and then after that it’s an ultimately option to view the specific details of all of the updates right here in the hand side. Now I click on that view available extras and then go to the section that has all the extras and here is Dream Scene for example. I didn’t install a couple things here so you just check them off and after you install that right by selecting it you’ll be able to make use of what the Dream Scene are. There is lower too. There are sounds and other kind of things you can add in there. So check off what you want, click on install. Let it do its thing and then restart the computer.
Now, once you restart the computer then you will get the additional options. Now make sure you have Aero enabled. There is a patch for a Vista Premium and Vista Business Editions if you have those you can go and do a search on Google for NonUltimateDreamScene.zip or go that URL that I have there and download the little zip file and follow the instructions on extracting the package. But once you have installed you will see that you can enable moving background that’s basically so this wallpaper that I have here has a moving shine to it and you can personalize and change that desktop background to another Dream Scene for example. So, instead of still wallpaper which I have earlier seen in my previous Windows Vista videos you might have seen that I have this dark background. That’s just the plain wallpaper, nothing fancy there okay.
But now you will have an option for Windows Dream Scene content and these are basically movie files that are small in size and go into loop so they play over and over before the seconds for example. They do different things. By default Microsoft had bunches that are nature-base. There are a lot of nature ones, high resolution, pretty nice to look at depending on the season I guess but if you’re getting tired of looking at the nature ones and you want something different well, obviously you can go and download new ones, different ones from other types of website that have them available for free right.
So, that’s what I did, so what you can do here is go to a website that I found a called DreamScene.org okay and on DreamScene.org you can download from their gallery different types of movie wallpaper. Now, on this one I downloaded three different Dream Scenes and basically there are zip files, so you download all the zip files from them that are free and then extract them and put them in appropriate folder on your computer. So, Dark Vista for example if I open up one up and select it and then click on extract files. Don’t put it in the default pack put it in C:\Windows\Web\Windows Dream Scene and extract it in that folder. That way it will appear when you go back in here you will see now that the other ones that I extracted appeared in this spot. Right, so here is the Dark Vista if I select that one, now I’ll minimize this here. You will see that I have the Dark Vista moving wallpaper background. Okay so that’s what I tell about. You don’t need to use the ones that come with it. You can add your own in there and they’re free of course. So, there are other websites that have them as well. You just have to search for them that the DreamScene.org has nice ones there.
So, let’s select then the other one that I download here, Atomic City so that one here. This is basically a pretty dirty looking city here that you can see all the smoke moving in the background and stuff like that. So you can get all kinds of stuff, just search for what you want and add it. And you’ll end up with something different then just the plain still wallpaper. You can use this WMB type of movie fall that it makes use for that. So this is the Dark Vista and you can see here every so many seconds, it’s going to laid out and it will be a small animation going on here related to this specific type of wallpaper. Other wallpapers from Dream Scene to different things obviously. So anyways, I hope you enjoyed this video and thank you for watching.
