However, the other thing I want to add is, we don't always want to relax. Sometimes we maybe playing an easy opponent that you should beat and you get nervous, or other times you might be kind of tired. You're up studying like for exams and you need to turn the energy up. So, what we're going to next is talk about a little drill for doing that. So let Erica and Micky go now and I'll talk a little bit about this drill.
What I want you to do is, to think a minute about what words get you fired up and energized. What music, what kind of music do you listen to that really gets you up and makes you go? What things does your coach say or maybe an old coach say, shouts to you, that really gets you generated? What I want you to do is, write those words down now.
Okay, great! Now what we'll do is, look at that list of words. Now, think of the situations in practice where you need more energy, is it the end of a practice and you're doing a lot of sprint works and you're pretty fatigue? Is it before a game against an opponent you would beat a few times? What you want to do in those situations, is then recall this image and these words that fire you up or even the music that you think of that fires you up, because that's a good way to increase your energy level.
Good! So what we've done here is we've talked away centering that can calm you, calm you physically, calm you mentally, and we've also identified some clue words that you can use to kind of energize or psyche yourself up. The key however is not to just do it here, you have to take them and try them out in practice, customize into your situation in sport. So try it in your practices as well as competition.
