How to Enter a Destination in a 2009 Volkswagen Head Unit
Hey folks! Brian Cooley here in a ‘09 Jetta SportWagen with the latest VW head unit
navigation, media, hard drive based. Let me show you how to enter a destination very
quickly and do a couple of tweaks to that.
Now, it could not be easier on this car from the map view or anywhere for that matter,
just press nav and that gets you right here to the destination entry screen first button there
is address from there. It will default into the region you're in. So, most of us are going to
go either to street for the local city or enter the city you're going to. And as you can see, it
first confirms that you want to look up an address in that city. And then it asks you for the
address first and then the street name after that. A lot of good, strong text prediction here,
so it quickly gave me a list of possible streets without making me enter a whole lot of
addresses and this is the one I want. And you start your destination navigation right there.
Couple things to go with that I want to show you. First of all, if you want to turn on 2D,
3D, traffic or topographic, you hit that button second from the left on the bottom ribbon.
Traffic's a handy one, as you can see it lights up right away. We do have some good,
clear roads near us, a little bit of hazard right there. And the toggling is not hard to do
from 2D to 3D, flyover mode or this topographic thing, which is kind of odd especially if
you're in a city.
Now, to do a multi stop tour or other changes to your route, go back to the nav button
again and use these buttons down here. For example, Destination will let you change your
destination or do a stop-over. Memory lets you load some out of previous memory. Your
Route function here is of course when you're under guidance. Extras will let you add
stopovers or go into the tour mode as VW calls it to reorder places that you're going and
you decide where you want to place your additional destination on the list. Where do you
want it to go after? In this case, I'll just drop it to the bottom of the list. On and on, and
then continue your guidance with your new list. So, those are your basic ways of entering
a destination and modifying a multi stop and looking at your display for traffic and other
types of use, on the '09 Jetta and similar late-model VWs with this advanced head unit.
