Butterscotch Tutorial
What is "burning?"
Michael Callahan: Hi, this is Mike Callahan, "Doctor File Finder," and welcome to your butterscotch.com tutorial on what is burning?
Well, this is flames and it certainly burning but that doesn't what we're talking about. In computers burning refers to recording data, music, video, to a DVD, or CD. So it's very similar to the term ripping for copying files off of a CD or DVD. Doesn't seem to make sense because you weren't really ripping anything, in other case you really aren't burning other than the fact that you're laying down the data whatever it is music, videos, photos, documents and you're laying them down, and you're burning them to the media.
So the term burning, very simple, simply means to record or put data on a disc and that's all there is to it.
