Hey guys, John Rettinger with Johnforlakers.com here. If you’ve been following any of my recent videos you know I made the switch to HD and you might also know that I struggled with it a little bit as far as audio issues. The regular quality videos play fine, the videos was synced up, with the pictures, you are seeing no issues, but when you hit the watch in HD button, the idea was like ten seconds behind, five seconds behind, it just wasn’t synced up and did not look right at all.
I did a little of digging, I was able to figure out what the problem was. I figured that if I have this problem, maybe you guys are having it too or you know somebody that is and hopefully this will help. So I’m going to show you how to export movies from imovie in HD and get them uploaded to YouTube without any audio syncing issues so they look fantastic on You Tube’s high definition format.
First thing that you are going to need is imovie 08, imovie 06, or imovie HD, will really cut it. I’m going to go ahead and open it up right here.
Here is a project that I had already open, it’s the T-mobile dew un-boxing that I just recently posted. So go to file, new project, make sure you have a 16x9 aspect ratio selected, you have a few other options but you really want to make sure you have 19x9. Go ahead and hit create, I’m going to hit cancel since I already have one open here, so go ahead and do your editing. Anything you would normally do with your video next got to share, export using QuickTime. Now there’s right things can get a little bit squarely but if you follow this along and you pause it and make sure your setting match up, you won’t have any issues, so call it whatever you’d like. And choose export using mpeg4. Go ahead and hit options.
So here’s where you really need to follow along here, file format needs to be mp4, video, make sure that’s selected there, mpeg4 basic, data rate 5000, image size 1280x720 HD, frame rate sure current, and for frames use 24, here is a summation of the video right down here. Make sure you guys copy that and make sure that is what you have on you videos as well.
Next, we’ll hit audio. Audio format aac-lc, data rate 320, channel stereo, output sample rate, 4800, and encoding quality better. And again here’s a quick example of what everything should look like. Go ahead and hit OK, hit save and you guys will be good to go. Export your video and you can upload it to YouTube just like any other video but be prepared that HD takes up a little bigger size and it’ll take a little bit longer to upload, just a friendly head up.
So I hope this will help some of you solve your audio syncing problems. I know it’s really helped me. Took a lot of digging but was able to get a solution to it.
Hope you guys enjoyed. Be sure to check out the website www.johnforlakers.com it’s a community forum of all user generated content.
