Now we are not going to use the wiggly selector, but I did want to point out that function so while it is still selected here in the timeline, just hit delete and we are back to our original range selector. And what we are going to do now is create a very simple blur and fade transition that will make our actors name appear and wipe across from left to right and then very nicely wipe across from left to right again to become invisible, but as it fades in opacity, it also fades in blur and we this get this wonderful soft edge effect to everything.
So let us change the blur value to start with. I am going to set that to a round number, around about 30 pixels, hit okay, the text will almost completely have disappeared that is not a problem we will take care of that in just a second. But we will also going to add into this animator an opacity property, so make sure you add that into this current animator and let us set the opacity all the way down to 0%.
Now, currently because all of the characters are selected, remember everything is being affected, completely blurred out, and also made 100% transparent. Well, let us use some even numbers here. Let us toil down the range selector 1 and let us change our start point to round about 30%, and you will see as you scrub through this the characters are slightly blurred and do appear to fade on as well. It is going to look a bit smoother than that in just a second.
So I am going to set the start point at an even 30% and let us take the same amount off the other end. Let us adjust the end point all the way down to around 70%. So what we are seeing now is a blank section in the middle. This is affectively the 40% of remained selected and therefore has the opacity and the blur applied to it.
Well, instead of using this entire area as an affected portion, let us use the ramp shade to transition between the blurred text and the finished text. So come down to the advanced settings here in the timeline and change the shape from the currently selected square to ramp up and then we can adjust the offset value. So remember if we scrub to the left hand side and move our offset all the way off so round about -70, because our end point is 70 that will position the offset on the left hand side here. And none of the characters are now visible because this is effectively the finished result we are now seeing, well let us apply a couple of key frames to this and we can see the difference.
If we start all the way back at zero seconds, let us apply a key frame here for the offset at -70. If we scrub along almost towards the end, let us go for about four seconds here. We can now drag the offset value to the right and have a look at what happens as you do, you get this beautiful blur into focus and also transparency of our lettering, and as we move towards the right hand side we want to end up at approximately +70, which will now reveal all of our text. So if we do a quick ramp preview of that we now have this focus in and fading of our text and after four seconds it stays on screen.
Well we actually want to change that now. As the text fades on and becomes visible, we want it to fade off in the same direction. So it is only visible for a short amount of time before it blurs and disappears again. Well we have already got the first part of this animation set up in animator 1, ramping the effect up. If we had another animator where the effect ramps down and have it slightly offset in time, we will achieve the exact result that we are looking for.
Now the fastest way to do this is simply to duplicate the animator that we have got. It already has the correct start and end point set for the range selector and it already has key frames in for the offset. And the offset is going to move in the same direction, all we are going to change is the ramp up function.
Now just to prepare this for something coming up in a second, let us go to the left hand side of offset and just click on the graph icon there for the offset value. This means when we switch across to the graph editor and want it possibly make changes to th
