Tiffany Smith: Welcome to Love U. I’m your host Tiffany Smith. Don’t always get along with your mate. Love U shows you how to fight right.
Sometimes you’re going to disagree. It’s normal. But once you know how to fight, you won’t have to worry that your conflict will turn you into a convict.
A study conducted over a ten year period in Framingham Massachusetts asked 4,000 men and women how they fight with their partner. Interestingly, women who preferred a fight free relationship were four times more likely to die during the study. Ladies, don’t be afraid to make yourself hurt. Avoiding arguments could leave you fighting for your life.
Male: Sorry, I stayed out all night.
Female: We’re going to soak that shirt to get the lipstick out.
Male: Yeah, it’s harsh doing that thing.
Female: Aha.
Male: Hey, I met a guy at the Strip Club last night and I stated 220 gran for a poker tournament.
Female: That’s nice dear.
Male: And oh, we’re bankrupt.
Female: Oh.
Male: Dear?
Tiffany Smith: If you find yourself in the midst of an argument, there are a few steps that you can take to help avoid escalating the quarrel and lead you toward a resolution. Don’t simply complain. In a calm voice, state one, what is wrong? Two, why it’s wrong? And Three, how you’d like it fixed? It’s that easy.
Female: A Sandwich.
Male: Yeah. Delish?.
Female: How many times have I told you, how many times?
Male: What?
Female: A sandwich goes meat, cheese, meat cheese.
Male: Oh, did I get the order wrong?
Female: Did you get the order wrong? You know, if you’re going to make a sandwich for dinner, at least get the balance right.
Male: Okay. It’s just a sandwich and think of this could be such a big deal.
Female: Well, it is a big deal.
Male: I see that.
Female: Now, I would like another sandwich. Meat cheese, meat cheese
Male: Meat cheese.
Female: Please.
Male: Would you like some topper beans with that, Dr. Lecter.
Tiffany Smith: In an argument, one of the best ways to resolve a conflict is to identify with what the other person is feeling. Try seeing the argument from another side and you’re sure to get a fresh perspective.
Female: Every time you insist on it, it makes me feel like you don’t understand at all of the pain you got me through.
Male: It’s just that you never said you felt like that. That’s one thing about how it made me feel selfish.
Female: So, do you understand now?
Male: Sweetheart, I will never again make you walk through the city in Stilettos.
Male: Baby? Baby, wait, baby.
Tiffany Smith: Couples who fight fair do have a more intimate relationship and a better understanding of each other. So, try putting these helpful hints to good use on a daily basis and your relationship should have a fighting chance of survival. I’m Tiffany Smith with Love U and we’ll see you next time.
